On arrival in Rome we were presented with the situation of no BMW 1 series and the single option of a lovely Alfa Romeo. Lovely in all ways except cases would not fit. So the option was spend another 250 euros on an upgrade or take a car but not the bags. Ha ha ha. We had to get to my wife's parents house to be present for his hospital appointment so of course we had to pay. Crap experience. Don't think we will ever use sixt or after many years, autoeurope again. I'll just rent what I need. "

I paid 580.29 Euros for it. When I came to pick-up the car at Sixt, in Milan, they haven't the car or similar (4WD) in the same category. I tried to contact you by phone, but the person who talked to me was rude and turned off the call. Sixt offered to me a BMW X5 for 822 Euros, but they charged me 329,99 and said the voucher was 492,64 Euros. The difference, they said, it's your commission. I'm upset because I paid a lot of money and didn't have the car in the same category as Jaguar E-Pace. "

The parking attendant told us to go to the parkade next door. There was no signage. We finally stumbled across a small paper sign and another gate. We drove through and parked the car, no signage what so ever as to where to drop off the keys. Again we searched the mall for what seemed like an hou and found an abandoned sixt office with a sign that said they had moved upstairs. After an exhausting search we did manage to find the right place. When we complained they said they had sent an automatic email. We looked through our emails when we got to our hotel, and could not find anything. It was a terrible experience. "

We were upgraded to a larger brand new car at no cost. The agent in Florence met us at the car and called a taxi to pick us up in 2 minutes right at the car! The prepaid (full tank) fuel option price was about the same as what the gas stations cost, so if you are planning to use close to a full tank, this is the way to go. Finding the rental car return lot at the Florence Airport was a nightmare, so I suggest doing a lot of planning on figuring our where it is. We were running the car GPS and two other GPS programs on phones and they were all wrong. Overall, the experience was probably one of the best car rental experiences I have ever had. But what ended up being about $100/day, I am glad it was. "

" When Sixt didn't want to react to our situation with landing due to the bad weather in Bari instead of Lamezia and that we could not pick the car up in Lamezia then, we tried to call to Auto Europe. After a long waiting on the phone a lady told us that this is also not their problem. We do not understant what clients could do in the case, when the plan lands in different town. And what more, we were insured. "
" Our flight from Milano to Lamezia Therme was redirect due to the bad weather to the city Bari. We could not pick up the car in Lamezia therefore . We landed around 24.00. The guy working the call station clearly is not always available and the delay in exiting this very public area causes an incredible traffic problem, which results in violent honking and threats from the locals. " I had to wait 1.5 hours in a line to get my car. In the end I was provided with a Fiat-500 three doors mini car and not an economy car (as I booked and prepaid!) I didn't have time to wait another hour in the line to change the car so I had to drive Fiat-500 with a low power engine which was a nightmare on hilly roads around Lake Garda. I'd like to have at least a refund because Sixt charged a smaller amount according to the bill than the one I paid to AutoEurope. "

" I arrived at Venice airport late due to an Airmalta delay in departure and also due to a further delay as the plane had to circle over the outskirts of Venice as it was unable to land due to very bad storms. After eventually landing I got to the Sixt desk (later than 2 hours after the pick up time) and the Sixt assistant did not have my pre paid car nor did he have an alternative car to offer me. At 8pm on a Saturday night I had to rent a car for the night so that I could take my young kids and wife to the hotels we had booked 2 hours away. The following day I had to return the car I booked just to in order to take my family to the hotel in the hope that Sixt would sort out a car for the remainder of the 7 days of my holiday. To my shock again Sixt had no car for me and furthermore they could not offer me a car before the the Wednesday. This option was of no use for me as I had planed to drive down Italy with eventually leaving the car at Rome airport. In view of this the Sixt staff again took my details as it was a Sunday and assured me that I will be contact either on my phone or through email. In the meantime I had to once again rent another car from an alternative rental company , at a walkin rate in peak season, leaving me with a much more expensive bill than the one I had already paid with auto europe for a smaller car. The whole week elapsed and I did not received absolutely no contact from Sixt at all and I decided to try and resolve the matter on my return not to disrupt further my family's summer holiday. I sincerely hope that this complaint is forwarded to the persons concerned so that they in turn can contact me in view to getting some form of refund or compensation, possibly even a voucher for my next trip. Autoeuropes records will clearly indicate that I am a regular user of their services , I have done so for several years, so much so that I used them in June this year when I collected a car from Rome on the 29th of June. It is also worth noting that on that occasion the car I had ordered had not arrived in time and the staff of the rental company offered me an upgrade for the unnecessary delays in waiting and the inconvenience. I hope a fair judgement of this case is made as it would be ridiculous that I would have to forfeit 100% of the monies spent just because an airline has delays in departure combined with further delays in landing due to a storm. The fact that Sixt didn't even have a car to offer me clearly indicates that my car was re rented to another person. Thus Sixt get the benefit of a double rental and I was left with having to pay triple what I had originally planned due to the expensive walk in rate offered to me at an alternative rental desk. I urge you to look into this unfortunate matter. "
