" Everything about our rental was excellent, I thought. But we needed to contact customer support DURING the rental, and that was nearly impossible. We emailed, called, and called. No reply to our email. Long hold times on the call and we were never able to reach the right people, even when we finally reached someone. We had an indicator light go on almost immediately after leaving the rental location (wrench) and the manual said we needed service immediately. But we could never interest Sicily by Car in the issue, and could never reach anyone to find out what to do. We crossed our fingers, and drove on for 7 days throughout rural Italy with NO problems. But we were trying to be good renters, and were unsuccessful. This is the feedback we hear from others about this car rental company. GREAT as long as no problems come up during the rental (which I would think would be quite rare) "

" We received exceptional service. We missed a train and did not arrive at the expected time. The Hertz Como agent called us to ensure we were still coming. She was a pleasure to deal with in person as well and spoke excellent English. She had our rental car all ready to go, she was aware we bought insurance through you and did not try to sell more, and pick up was just outside the train station door. "

" Pickup location was wrong, only updated when I inquired. As a result I had to walk extra 20 min with luggage to the "new" location. Not sure if all rental conditions info on the new voucher was correct but it was still accepted just fine. Before pickup I was spammed with emails and that I would need a credit card in my name. Debit card was accepted like always, without comment and worked just fine. Deposit amount noted on the voucher was wrong, I only had to leave a deposit for the fuel already in the tank. "
" - a bit of waiting time to get to the counter - pickup process prompt and simple - attendant thoroughly inspected the vehicle with me and noted ALL damages without complaint, so great - car interior was not fully clean, crumbs and such - cargo cover was missing - car was running great, no issues or complaints - got a bigger car compared to what was booked, upgrade is always nice but maybe not the most ideal for sicily :) - very fast return, but I was charged for fuel at the end, by mistake. This was resolved promptly through support email and charges returned, but I had some trouble finding the correct support email address since the one provided in the receipt email was invalid "

" No Protectiion offered to clients and most likely do not pay the rental companies and this is the reason that the premiums for insurance is more than 100% of the cost paid by the voucher. "

" Unfortunetely, It was bad experience. Keddy is Europcar in Bari. It is the same company. When I rented the car, europcar stuff didn't talk me about using private parking in Napoli. But car or some car device stolen is usually for Napoli. i have car accident, rear lamps and audiosystme were stolen and i should pay 900 euros for it, i don't agree with it. Another one reason, thah i should pay fuel fee but I have returned car with full tank. "

" The company S.b.C. was very much ok and fair, but I choose the wrong car ... a Fiat 500 X is neither fish nor meat ... a strange thing and did not gave me a good and safe feeling while driving. "

" Everything was spoiled when I returned the car☝️☝️ Arrived to the parking 15:40 its important part of the story☝️So came to agents desk to ask to close the contract as quick because need to go with shuttle to check in my luggage to terminal 1☝️U don't believe but agent came only 16:05 to close contract and said that he charge me for delay extra day 20€ and special insurance 27€ in additional...I was shocked it's not even about a money it's principally to fullish me☝️☝️☝️I took a car 15:11 on Friday 24/3 and bring it back 15:40 Tuesday 28/3 I attached u contract ☝️When I start to complain,agent said this is not this is system charge u and nobody can help u with☝️The system count time of reservation 14:30 but not original time of pick up 15:11... I'm really often rent car in Europe include Italy and I know the rules☝️The time of pick up it's a starting time of contract☝️☝️☝️Also I have to return car no more than 60 min from original time it's mean I can return before 16:10 free and it happened dozen of times... I late because of crazy traffic near malpensa and late by maximum 30 min for this u took 47€ Include special insurance 27€ for delay of 30 min?! All my rental cost 80€... "

" The reservation specified 9-seat minivan, but in fact it was 8-seat minivan! This was not enough for our travelling group of 9 people, and it took 1.5 hours to find a solution. The minivan also had a lot of damage on it. But what is the worst - Sicily by Car now is trying to claim some of this damage was done during my rental, while I know for certain this was not the case. I have my suspicion that this is because I refused to buy additional insurance from Sicily by Car (as I already had insurance in the rent package from AutoEurope). Bad experience overall this time, unfortunately. "

" My only concerns were with the Milan Malpensa airport. The rental return spot was hard to find and badly signposted, no gas station near the airport - the one I found was really tiny and well hidden a couple of miles away. I had a lot of luggage and sports Equipment so I needed a trolley - very haed to find when returning the car. There is a trolley automat in parking hall, but it did not work. Also the next two automats in the terminal were out of service. it took me 15-20 minutes to run arounf the terminal and find a trolley, which is ridiculous. A very long minus for malpensa. "

Price was the same. I asked about possibility to have an automatix gear box, but they offered to pay 6€/day... "

And here I told, that I do not agree, as I choosed insurance straigjt drom Auto Europe, but he showed me that insurance was includes in my contract which I signed at the pick up desk. And that's my fault that I didnt check what did they put. In total they deductes 140€, for one infant chair and child foamy cushion, tslling that insurance was like a packaged with chairs, or something... "

" On November 9, after having had several contacts with the Bologna SBC office, I had to send a formal complaint to the SBC HQ: I refer to above rental agreement and below email [INVALID] In summary: I have rented a car with you several times before with only good experience. This last rental has not been a positive experience. Ref rental agreement #240205560, rental period 30.10-7.11.22 When I took out the car in Bologna on 30.10, we were delayed to a lunch appointment but checked the exterior of the car. Unfortunately I did not check the tank level and the milage until after out lunch on the 30.10. Then I noticed that the tank level was below half, and the milage given in the contract not correct. I have not received any feedback after November 9. WHat I have not appreiciated is the fact that the local SBC office seems to have ignored the fact that they can't explain the milage difference between the actual milage when I checked out the car and the milage they issued my contract with. They have not presented any proposals on the fact that the tank was half empty when I checked out the car either. "

" During the pickup they required a credit card. I did not have one, but their explanation was that this is incase there is damage, so that they can get their money. After showing them that I had purchased full damage waiver (0 EUR), they agreed to give me the car, since they would not need to claim on damage regardless. Whoever had the car previously smoked in it, and of course it is nearly impossible to get all the smell out, so there was a trace of the smell. Also the windshield had some weird grease from the inside, making it reflective at night. Had to clean it. Dropoff was a little confusing - their office opens at 9. But there is a box to drop the key in at a slightly different location. This was not explained at pickup. "

" I paid for a BMW X1, got offered the "upgrade" which was the Jeep Compass, which was cheaper to start with. Then the lady tried to sell me the all in package for 55 euro's a day. I told her that I already have full coverage, she still tried to push it. Seems to me that Sixt is too aggressive to cross sell. Did not get a refund for the cheaper car. Would never go for the more expensive option in the category as it is a scam with them. "

We made sure that we took loads of photos just in case we got charged fee them and requested that the stained seat also got put onto their list as it was not listed. We took the car back a day before we left the country as our flight was much earlier than the office actually opened. We were worried about getting charged for the various dents but everything was fine. "

" My experience with Auto Europe was ok but think rental car agencies that work with Auto Europe should be required to behave in an acceptable fashion in order to participate. We paid for our car in full ahead of rental to avoid this type of situation but still had to deal with dishonest rental car agents. "
" Brought the car back and Avis agent said the outside was dirty and I needed to get it washed (I'm on vacation in Italy...??) It was a black car and a bit dusty but nothing a hose down wouldn't clean right up. I've never been asked to wash a rental car on return before. He said he had to charge me 60 euro for "full detailing" but if I wanted to I could pay his friend 20 euro to clean the car. I refused both but was thoroughly irritated by the entire interaction. The agent got upset with me for refusing to sign the credit card bill and we left. I couldn't believe it. "

" Car was not full with gas when I got it from the parking. I refuel it (diesel) with 35 euros. I took also photo of the display for this. My itinarery was Rome . Sienna, Florence, Bologna. On every overnight stop I car was parked on vallet parking. On the route Florence - Bologna oil indicator light up! and I had to stop and add 1 litter of oil (21 euros) , which is not common for a rent a car vehicle! On the airport drop off i informed the staff they were willing to pay me for the oil but they need some time because they said it should be done by cash! I said you have deposit for the drop off charge (they said to me initially that the drop off would cost 141 euros! ) on my card why you just don't make a reduction on this? Anyway I was in a hurry so I didn't wait to give me the 21 euros. Surprisely my card has been charged with the amount of 252.47 euros and I don't know why. "

" The first car that we got from Europcar had a flat tire from the beginning. However, the tire pressure loss indicator did not light up until after a few kilometres, so then we had to drive some more to find a gas station to fix it. We had to replace the tire and then we took the car back to the airport. We were then given another car, however, we got rear-ended that very same evening. Luckily, nothing bad happened except for some scratches, but I nevertheless tried to call Europcar to register the incident. After three days we got another flat tire, and not due to reckless driving (we were driving on the small roads of Piemonte and got a wooden stick in the tire somehow). What are the tires in Italy made of? I've been driving for 15 years and I've never had a flat tire until now! When I finally managed to contact Europcar's customer service, they said there was no point in returning the car and I should instead try to change the tire myself, which we consequently did. Except for the first car, which we already got with a flat tire, I realise these things are mostly just unluck. However, Europcar's customer service in Italy is completely worthless. They don't pick up the phone, sometimes you get disconnected, and when someone does pick up, they might not even speak English. When they tell you they will call back, it might happen in an hour, or three hours, or not at all. It's very frustrating, which is why I wouldn't recommend Europcar to anyone, Their cars are basically okay. "

This was after she took my money for an extra drives and boster seat. I took the car as I had to come back to the airport to pick up my parents in law. Auto Europe couldn't have been more helpful and arranged with the car rental company to get me the car I had reserved. I was contacted by Scicily by car who assured me I would recieve a better car than I reserved but when I turned up at the counter the same unpleasant agent as before gave me another car in poor condition with huge mileage on it. I will never use this company again. Horrible service appaling cars. The only positive I have is that at least the interiors were spotless. "

" The overall experience was fine but I feel the problem is it seems there's a disconnect between Auto Europe and the Rental Car Agencies. The car agencies specially if you have taken Auto Europe Insurance, make you feel you are in trouble unless you take their own insurance. I was so scared that I almost paid extra for their insurance. Agencies give you a feeling that you have booked a 'cheap' car so you get a cheap car and service. AutoEurope should work harder to bridge this disconnect. Also Auto Europe should give better, clearer and precise information to their users about what all Autoeurope would do and how they would address problems/ issues in case they get into trouble "

Ironically, we had to ask the Sixt people (whose office actually was at the station) and walk with luggage in the summer heat to get to it. " The girl at the desk was very helpful. When the van was not there, she first offered us two smaller cars for the same price. We were going to do it until we saw how small they were. Our party was five adults with five large suitcases as well as five carry-on. It simply would not have worked. Thus, we had to wait for the reserved van to arrive from Milan. "
" Our van was not available when we went to pick it up. When I made the reservation I told them our flight BA0598. arrived on Saturday 28 June at 21:45, but I was picking up the van Sunday morning at 11:00. We were staying in a local hotel and meeting friends from another flight at the car rental the next morning. When I arrived at the Sicily by Car desk I was told they looked at my flight number and assumed we we not arriving until that evening. Evidentially the same flight number is used several days a week. We had to wait for the van to arrive from Milan, get cleaned, etc., All in all, several hours of our time was wasted. I've used Auto Europe several times in the past and have always had a good experience. The condition of the van was another problem. I cannot believe a vehicle would be rented in such condition. The entire right side of the van had been destroyed. The right mirror housing was gone with the insides of the mirror visible, a huge scratch a foot tall and several feet long was in the sliding door, along with much other damage. I am sure some previous customer "took the side of the van out" while negotiating the four story ramp in the parking garage. However, although the van ran fine, it was certainly embarrassing to be seen driving it. Is it possible for me to send you photos of the van's condition upon our pick-up? " I chose to pre-pay the petrol and avoid hassle on a Sunday but I found it was overcharged compared to pump prices and an extra fee added on top. Other rental firms do not do that. Vehicle was badly scratched all over and indicated a low tyre pressure from day 1 so I don't think it had been checked fully after previous rental. "

" I was given a Hyundai Kona which surprised me as I had payed extra and ordered a Mercedes Benz A class or similar compact car. When I asked the agent about this I was told that this was a similar class because I had ordered an automatic car and it was the same size as the Mercedes A class, i.e. they offered small, medium and large cars and the Hyundai Kona was a medium sized automatic car. He further explained that they had no Mercedes Benz available for me to get. I understand that it was not guaranteed that I would get a Mercedes Benz but it is fair to assume that when ordering "a similar class car" that would include a BMW, Audi, Volvo or a car of similar quality and brand. According to the AVIS Italy car guide (https://www.avis.com/en/cars/vehicles/it) the class I was ordering is "Compact Elite" which the Hyundai Kona can in my opinion not be considered to be. Other than this, I was very satisfied with my experience. The car I received was in excellent condition and suited our needs. "

Same in this case, although we did manage to locate it already with the 2nd round. :-) it would be advisable to use bigger signs or enter the exact location for the return to the NAV of the car as the Home address for example to make this more smoother.
