" I am extremely unhappy!!! I felt being cheated! I didn't get the car I expected to get. The big difference between what I was offered/shown during a booking/paying on internet, and we ended up getting actually. We got the worst car type from this category, I could not believe my eyes. For such a price! I had no choice as I was traveling with family, had to move on, was getting late. I was sort of trapped up. The car was very noisy, I would say horribly noisy, quite uncomfortable, unsmooth, tough to drive, GPS didn't work for whatever reason (but no one reimbursed its price to me), we had to use GPS from my wife's mobile phone, but for that we had to pay extra for internet, and she could not relax the entire road as she had to guide me permanently. But the lady at Maggiore Florence was nice/kind/polite, cannot say anything negative about her; she was trying to help, feeling sorry about us, but she said it was not their fault, there was no any better car available. She said our contract was with Auto Europe, we have to make complaints to you. At the drop-off the guy said he was there only to receive the car, he ignored all my complaints, said it was not his responsibility. Such a frustrating experience! It was my first experience with Auto Europe! I used Maggiore before, and never had any problem. The price was unequal for such a shitty car, sorry for my French! It is just not fair! "

" As with many similar sites you get misled, thinking you made the right choice, get insurance cover etc... at a convenient price. The insurance paid is in no way linked with the rental company, so upon picking the car you either have to leave a hefty deposit blocked on your card, or else pay for insurance cover again directly with them. In my case we decided to pay insurance again with Maggiore as they were very specific that if anything happened we were liable to pay for all, i.e lose the deposit left and any claims would need to be done separately to AutoEurope after that. I am of the opinion that Auto Europe should make this clear to customers, but then again certain it generates substantial revenue, thus left in the small print somewhere. Bottom line - always look up car rental directly with rental companies or local rental agencies and avoid surprises. "

The counter staff were ok, also spoke English and were happy to help. The vehicle provided was in good condition and clean. Whatever you do, make sure you get to a fuel station and fill up before redelivering the car - the closest station is past the exit towards the Airport and having 3/4 tank we decided to pay whatever it was to Maggiore, rather than proceeding on the Autostrada then have to make our way back. To our surprise, just over a 1/4 tank of diesel cost EUR100!!!! "

" Perhaps I erred, but When booking on line I thought I was to collect the car in Florence city centre. Taxi driver pointed out it was near the airport - a significant difference both in time and fare. Service in this office was the worst I ever experienced. The office did not have a very professional appearance, but I could excuse that if the service had been satisfactory. The male official was surly, generally bad tempered , intimidating and practically refused to communicate with us. We had booked the car for 3.00pm. But due to the longer journey were late in arriving - maybe 20-30 minutes. This really had nothing to do with the fact that we didn't get the car until about 5.00pm, though at one stage this was suggested by the official who made no real attempt to explain what was going on, why we were waiting in a hot and airless room - where was the car? Was there a car? Was he even the Maggiore official? - the fact that he wore a t-shirt with the Maggiore insignia gave us a straw to clutch at in this respect. A woman whom we later saw in the city centre office came in at one stage but didn't make any attempt to speak to us. When questioned 'soon, or 5-10 minutes ' would be the reply. Some other people did business while we were there, none were tourists and as we don't speak Italian, we didn't have a clue what was going on. When the car finally arrived, there was no apology or excuse offered. It was grubby inside, but otherwise fine. We returned it to the city office and again had to wait at least a 30 minutes. They were probably understaffed. It did seem a bit chaotic. I will certainly not use this company again and was very surprised that it is associated with a reputable company such as Avis and AutoEurope. "

" Awful. They told me my car was unavailable and I therefore had to rent a more expensive one. While the guy was explaining this to me and negotiating the price he could give me for the more expensive car, I heard his colleague, whilst on the phone to the third party mechanic, offer my original car (Toyota Aygo) to the customer stood next to me. I said "hey that's my car" and the employee, not knowing I understand italian, said to his colleague "close it, close it, quickly" ie close the deal with the mechanic so the Aygo isn't available. I told him I understood and he made up a nonsensical story as to why that Aygo wasn't my car. Eventually, only after saying I would complain, did he finally and miraculously find a car for the price I originally paid through the website. The car had dents on the front and back, one of which wasn't on the paperwork so it was fortunate that I saw it before driving away. They are con artists doing whatever they can to maximise their commission. Worst car rental I've ever had. I very strongly recommend removing them from your website, or at least giving them the one star that they have on Google, unlike the three stars you have given them. "

" Unfortunately, I was the victim of a scam. Upon dropping the car off at Pescara airport in perfect condition and handing the attendant the car keys, I went to the boot to collect my luggage. Both myself and my girlfriend noticed that the attendant knelt down at the front left of the car during this time. When he got back up, he said there was a scratch on the car. The scratch was fresh, and there was still paint peeling off it. The attendant was holding the keys in his hand and some of the peeled paint, and it was just so obvious he had done it himself. I checked the car myself before handing the attendant the keys, but did not take photos unfortunately; the car was parked at a private property in rural Italy and there's no chance for someone to key scratch it anyway. My security deposit has since been deducted from my card, and it's just really unfortunate that this supplier would resort to such measures for more money. It's completely unprofessional, dishonest and unethical and I hope you can help me with this. I have still not received the invoice from Maggiore regarding the deposit being taken from my card, or any emails confirming that the car has been since returned. "

I do have two credit cards but this particular time one of them was blocked just a couple of days before my trip because of some suspicious transaction. As as result I ended up having only 1 credit card during that trip. That requirement was hidden in the middle of agreement with Auto Europe but who reads them these days! I use rentals 15-20 times per year but I was asked to provide two credit cards probably just once in my life. As a result I had to pay full insurance for the car in addition to previously paid reservation rate. You should have make it very clear and visible for customers to avoid such situations. "

" about to reccomend Auto Eruope, it depends from answer to the point 3, if it was not clearly mentioned in Auto Europe site when I booked I will NOT reccomend at all it, if it was a mistake of Maggiore and you will sove it, for sure I will reccomend it. We had to take the lower category as they gave no option. They just said we need to complain to Autoeurope. First of all you need to wait for 2 hours, because only one person is working on the counter and in additional she is trying to sell extra's , so it takes much longer for each customer Seconf they were trying to sell excess cover telling that autoeurope will not refund excess (I have purchased Super cover). Then she reserved some amount of my card saying that if there will be no issues the reserve will be released. On drop-off I have just was told that I need to pay 50 Euros according to contract. Reserved money was for fuel (don't use the service because their prices are without taxes like VAT, ect.) and surprise: Windscreen protection and Road assistance. She has NEVER told that she is including extra service at extra costs (50 eur). Lesson: Never deal with MAGGIORE and always read carefully what you sign (don't trust what they tell you) "

" When I collected the vehicle it was very dirty. The agents were all busy and did not take the time to inspect the vehicle with me. On the form I had seen some damage had been reported, however it was not clear or as detailed as with other rental companies. The two obvious damage spots were in the back and on the left door. The damage was fairly obvious, so having seen that I assumed the reflection would be accurate and I drove off. On returning the vehicle the agent rubbed off some mud revealing a scratch on the front bumper. I don't believe the damage was caused during the time that I had rented the vehicle. We had no incident and the vehicle was always securely parked. The agent advised me not to sign the form if I don't agree and that their customer service department would contact me. I'm still waiting for them to contact me, but subsequently I've had EUR500 deducted from my credit card. I have also not received any invoice or additional communication since dropping the vehicle. "

I find it more likely that they were older damages that were "forgotten" on the damage sheet when I got the car. "

" I gave a 4 above considering good previous experiences, otherwise I would give 0, as this one was terrible: I had reserved a station wagon and maggiore only had a Cubo Fiat. When I complained, they told me they just didn't have another, larger car, and they didn't know (nor cared) about what happened. I therefore had to call AutoEurope, which took me about 25 minutes waiting. When I was finally able to talk to the person from AutoEurope, she asked to talk to the Maggiore person, who confirmed to her they didn't have the car I had reserved. She then told me she could not find anything else for me (simple as that), so the only option I had was to cancel the reservation and look for something else on my own!!! I consider this absurd, I hope you also do and offer some kind of compensation or explanation. In the end I had to pay a higher rate than what I would have paid anywhere for a Cubo (since I paid for a station wagon rate). Cubo is a small and uncomfortable car, and there just was no way out of it. The whole process took me more than 2 hours, only to get out of there with a car I didn't ask for and didn't want. "
