I bought full insurance with AutoEurope and when I got the car at the Europcar counter I was told that in case of damages I would be charged and I would have to deal with the insurance reinbursement myself with AutoEurope and they would not be accountable. They offered me to get the Europcar insurance but I did not want to pay twice for the same product. Apparently this is a recurring issue with costumers. Next time I rent a car through an intermediary agency like AutoEurope I will not buy the insurance and instead get it directly with the rental car company. This is a safer option to go with as a costumer in case of vehicle damages. "

" The first car that we got from Europcar had a flat tire from the beginning. However, the tire pressure loss indicator did not light up until after a few kilometres, so then we had to drive some more to find a gas station to fix it. We had to replace the tire and then we took the car back to the airport. We were then given another car, however, we got rear-ended that very same evening. Luckily, nothing bad happened except for some scratches, but I nevertheless tried to call Europcar to register the incident. After three days we got another flat tire, and not due to reckless driving (we were driving on the small roads of Piemonte and got a wooden stick in the tire somehow). What are the tires in Italy made of? I've been driving for 15 years and I've never had a flat tire until now! When I finally managed to contact Europcar's customer service, they said there was no point in returning the car and I should instead try to change the tire myself, which we consequently did. Except for the first car, which we already got with a flat tire, I realise these things are mostly just unluck. However, Europcar's customer service in Italy is completely worthless. They don't pick up the phone, sometimes you get disconnected, and when someone does pick up, they might not even speak English. When they tell you they will call back, it might happen in an hour, or three hours, or not at all. It's very frustrating, which is why I wouldn't recommend Europcar to anyone, Their cars are basically okay. "

I did receive a call stating my car was checked in however I need documentation of the return in writing as I requested multiple times and have still not received the receipt. The staff did call to say my car was checked back in at the end of the day so I received a verbal confirmation however no written confirmation has been sent although I requested it over the phone multiple times as well as the following day. Having used this your company and this location multiple times in the past with good success and very friendly service normally, this particular incident with the return has been unfortunately a disappointment and I am unsure I will send other customers from the US. Also in this circumstances you never know how much petrol there is left in the current notch the car is showing to you, it could be at the end of it, middle etc. The gentlemen at the drop off did not give me any penalty but I was asked to pay at the counter for the petrol I did miscalculate where perhaps I was not given the best fuel rate. The car was smelling of cigarette, in my mind the smell and the no full tank of fuel it means that the car did not have a proper cleaning the night before. I am thinking the car was returned late and not cleaned professionally at the appropriate cleaning station which for such a company like Europcar it is not an acceptable service, in my opinion of course. All this time, we were sure the car was broken down and we would loose our flight. Fortunately, after numerous nervous tries, the car started. We drove fearfully and cautiously to a gas station 20 minutes away, topping off the tank WITHOUT shutting engine down in fear of a no start scenario again. 4) Staff at drop-off made a stink about a very small scratch on the bumper that they wrote up even though they could have forgiven it, after giving us a faulty car that almost left us stranded and almost gave us a heart attack. The exchange with the staff got so heated they threatened us to write up other damages to the car that we were NOT responsible for. "

" Generally speaking the experience was relatively fine as at the end the problem was solved, however, I would adviise some implemention to offer a service smoother and more flexible . - customer service is not 24h -7/7 e.g on Sunday is closed! - an unexpected problem occurred to me (I injured my leg and I was not further able to drive the car) and trying to figure out how to return the car - I have called the operator asking to add a second driver, but the first answer was "you need to come personally to present the document of the second driver". - asking if there was the possibility to send the documentation via e-mail the answer was "no, or I do not know, you need to ask to my manager who pheraps is back tomorrow" - In the while I aked other solution e.g. about a recollection service or whatever applies in this circumstances, the answer was "no, we do not do this service, and/or I do not know, it never happens" - I have tried to call another number but no answer. Office was closed. - I recalled the previous operator trying to find a suitable solution. I regret to say that the tone of the conversation was not the best example of professionality and client support, I have also understood the personnel was overhelmed.. However, I am sure the conversation is registered and therefore I leave your auditing to evaluate. - However, at the end of the phone conversation I was finally allowed to send exceptionally the documentaion via e-mail in order to add the second driver. - Following the related e-mail correspondence I did send the document of the second driver and I received the update of the contract. - I paid the due fees for the second driver for the entire duration of the contract. - The car was returned as due respecting the terms of the contract. " We used the autoeurope platform to book a car with Europcar. We fully paid for he car and the additional super cover insurance. We specifically booked with these companies as we do not have a credit card and they stated online that they accept debit cards as well. However our car was refused to us at the europcar counter because we did not have a credit card. As we insisted they told us that they do not accept our type of debit card, and that autoeurope was to blame for the misunderstanding. Then we have spent the next week trying to communicate with autoeurope (through emails and telephones) to claim our refund and still we have not been assured about the process of the refund. The communication process with your customer service has been really frustrating so far. we should have been compensated for our additional expenses because of your misleading website and instead we do not even know if we are going to get our money back for a car that we never even saw! "

" Dear Europcar, the pick-up system from Bari airport is a total disaster. 1. You have a ticketing system, which is already discriminatory, because it asks you to select whether you booked the car directly through Europcar, or through another agent. Isn't Europcar anyway going to get paid? 2. Because of this ridiculous system that you have, I had to wait more than 1 hour to be served. This was because other clients were coming later, but because they were meant to have 'booked directly' they were being served before. Don't you realize that everybody will just not care, and say that they booked 'directly' just so that they can jump the queue??? Needless to say, there were people who had 4 tickets in their hands - so that they could skip the queues and be served before the honest customers who were going to get their car from Europcar anyway. 3. We only got served after more than one hour because we just went up to the counter and complained. If you want to give preferential treatment to some clients over others, create a priority lane or a vip member lane.... but please, do not treat customers like animals. "

When I returned the car, 2 young men inspected it. One found a tiny scratch on the front left of the car. I found it suspicious that the other man immediately went to the front of the car and squatted down. He said there were nicks on the far outside of each side of the bumper. I think he knew they were there. I could hardly see them and am still not sure they were nicks. As the pick up spot for the car is inside a parking garage, it is very hard to do an inspection at pick up. I know the car touched nothing while I was driving it, but they insisted that I sign a paper acknowledging the so-called damage. "

" Made a booking through Autoeurope, some time after making booking wrote a message on official Europcar website to update pick up time for 3h later - got response that they should keep my car up until office closing - no problem. Arrived at Naples airport Europcar counter later than on original booking, it was close to closing hours (20:00) and waiting experience was quite frustrating - there was a queue ticket machine which was used mostly by tourists, although there were Italians popping in, ignoring ticket machine and just going straight to counter without waiting in queue. First I thought they were Europcar employees or something, but after second guy did same I had to intervene, as employees weren't even checking their queue tickets. After finally getting to the counter they said that they didn't have my car (and none of same size) anymore. Girl at the counter kept repeating like a robot that I need to pay extra for bigger car even after showing her my email thread with Europcar customer support about pickup time update. I was left no choice other than pay extra and take another car. From that point whole experience was better - got a new and clean car, had to catch another girl handling pick up's/drop off's to note rim scratches that weren't on my initial contract, all went smoothly there. Drop off went smoothly as well - guy took a quick look and took my signature, that's it. I went to counter again to talk about unfair extra charge - they said they can't do anything and I should contact Europcar customer support about it. I was in contact with Europcar CS whole time by email and eventually I did get a refund for extra charge. So all in all - Europcar saved their reputation in my eyes here, but customer service in their Naples airport counter is far from best as my experience wasn't smooth there at all (although not as bad as other "horror" stories on the net). When I took the car over it was night and the lady at the desk told us to check the car for small deffects and scratches and to take pictures of then next morning. " I booked a car with booster seat. When I received it I was told that as the office is closed on Saturday, I could have left the car at the hotel. I was really surprised that in the invoice I received I found out that I was charged of the booster seat, which I was supposed to have paid during the reservation, and of the fact that I return the car at the hotel. The officer should have said that I should have paid more if I would have leave the car at the hotel. He suggested me to leave there. Additionally in the web site, during the reservation, must be clearly written that the options are paid locally. In my printed reservation it is not written at all. "

I tried to extend the previous booking but I couldn't do it, so I booked the vehicle with a separate new reservation. Once at the desk, unfortunately due to a problem with my luggage I didn't have the passport with me and I couldn't get the vehicle. I asked the rental company Europecar if the photo of my passport would have been good but they said no. I then called Autoeurope customer service number, I spoke with an agent and I explained what happened. He was very rude, he didn't care about my problem and he wanted just to close the conversation. I explained that I was not going to get the vehicle and I was just asking if there was the possibility to get 50% or even 20% - 30% of the costs back. But nothing, no empathy at all and not even trying to explain. - I am aware that having the full documentation at the collection point is part of the terms & conditions. - I totally understand that not having the passport at the collection point was my problem and not Autoerope problem - I am a regular customer and for once I had a problem. All I was asking was to just get a small percentage of the cost back, maybe on my next rental. - My overall customer perception? Not happy at all with the service. " When I received the car on 8th July, there was no GPS and 4 car seats as requested and charged in my booking. The officer didnt know until I checked the car, came back and ask him. He provide GPS and no one checked it works or not. We were rush that time cause our family was waiting in train station so we didnt have time to check , the GPS didnt work for all the time in Florence. And we dont have car seats or boosters for kids too. "
