Additionally, it was very difficult to manage this reservation via Auto Europe as they required calling in to modify the reservation and I didn't have a phone that could make international calls to Germany while travelling (given that I was on an esim in a different country). " I have a trouble with the payments and provision. I rented the car on 24th of July via internet and did the payment of 455 Euro. There was a provision ( 227 Euro ) created when I picked up the car at Rome Airport which is normal process. I left the car on 5th of August at 6 AM at Napoli Airport and put the key into the box because of no one was available at that time. There is not any issue with the car, any ticket fee, any maintenance need,..etc. I fulled the benzin and only use 30 km drive which can be few euro's can be charge from the provision of 227 Euro defined on 27th of July. When I turn back to my home on 5th of August , I recognised additional 2 provisions at my bank account on 5th of August as 82 Euro's and 310 Euro's. There is not any information shared with me as a reason of these assignments. I'm waiting info from any responsible to reach me to explain the status either from BUDGET or from Auto Europe. "

Our plans changed and I called to cancel, only to be informed that I hadn't 'bought the cancellation insurance' and even if I didn't take the car (which I didn't), I'd still have to pay for it. IF you have that policy, it should be more obvious on the website, especially for those making their reservation within that 48-hour window. I'll think twice before using Auto Europe again and may very well simply book directly with Budget or another company. "

The car agencies specially if you have taken Auto Europe Insurance, make you feel you are in trouble unless you take their own insurance. I was so scared that I almost paid extra for their insurance. Agencies give you a feeling that you have booked a 'cheap' car so you get a cheap car and service. AutoEurope should work harder to bridge this disconnect. Also Auto Europe should give better, clearer and precise information to their users about what all Autoeurope would do and how they would address problems/ issues in case they get into trouble "

Especially when Budget gave us a very bad service. When we returned the car we found out that there was a new (minor) scratch over the back left wheel. We didn't see it before, and we were surprised by it - however we understand that it's not Budget's problem. The person at Orio al Serio airport hardly talked to us, showed us an app and told us that we have to pay more than 500 euros. Fixing that kind of a scratch costs no more than 100 euro. But nobody was asking us - he told us we must pay and we must sign in the app. And finally - we had made a deal with you for the price of the rental car - 187 euros. We knew that we might have to pay for additional driver (Why??? how does it increase your risk?) and we were ready to pay this amount. However those 187 euros with the additional driver fee are nowhere to be found. A simple understanding of how much we had paid is too much, I guess. We are extremely disappointed and will never rent a car from you or from one of the big rental companies. We will always use the local small companies. "

" My Booking Confirmation 18731923 was for the car of VOLKSWAGEN T-CROSS (or similar) AUTOMATIC. When I reached Budget in Milan Malpensa it was more than 1.5 hour waiting line (although I indicated my arrival time). Then, I was told Budget does NOT have my car or similar. From all automatic gear cars they had Polo, but could not offer me because of my large bike case (it was the main reason to chose VW). And the only option they offered me was Mercedes Vito for additional payment of eur 75 for 3-days. Accounting also for fuel upfront payment Budget charged me additional EUR 213.15, which I had to pay. In addition, upon car return they found a small scratch of plastic of right car mirror, which I did not notice at the beginning and I had no incidents on the road and car was parked for 3 nights near hotel (not going anywhere). Budget charged me eur 127.33 for this scratch, despite I had SuperCover Package. I will be protesting these charges and extra payment for the car upgrade since it was Budget failure to provide me with the ordered car or similar. Vito consumed more diesel and was by far less convenient car to drive for one person. I will send separate email with documents to AutoEurope with the claim. "

" I drove two regions of Italy: one was Naples/Upto Ravello and the other was Tuscany/upto Montalcino from Rome. My best scores go to the Avis Rome. The staff of Naples gave the GPS, which the equptiment of setting-up was missing. When I asked him to provide the other GPS, he said it was the only one to use. Therefore, I asked him to upgarde my rental car and he refused. I had to drive it up to Ravello for the first time. Compared to South Korea roads, the Italy roads don't much have the lightenings. When I drive a vehicle, I must rely on the headlight of the car. Without setting-up GPS firmly inside of the car, while concerning to fall down of it and lose the way to Ravello, I was insecure to drive and felt unsafe. I arrived at Ravello at night. Next day, it was a yellow-warning of rain-storm. The rental car/vehicle was the worst. The break wasn't perfect and I was concerned to drive back to the Naples aiport. My hotel owner was advised not to use the mountain-roads because of invisibility/fogs, but to use the seaside roads/cliff-narrow one. Before leaving there, I attened the cathedral mass of Sunday to pray. The funny part is that I sought for the path of God in the Amalfi region. It is known for it. I was cautious and scared to drive within the imperfect situation. The seaside road was certainly narrow. My speed of driving was slow. I was on the up-hill and two cars were behind of my car. There was the car in the opposite direction and it was on the down-hill side. The car bumped to my rental car. My car was slow and Driving was stopped, and I didn't fall down from the cliff. It was the incident. The opposite driver just left after the incident. Digitus Dei est hic! I canceled all schedueld plans before reaching to the airport. Sincerley, I prayed to the God to get the airport safely from there. I returned my car much earler. If I had the full cover insurance, it would be great. When I returned the car, the staff wasn't much worry about my psychological trauma. I wasn't insured or hurted at all. I tried to relax anyway. The money was truly burden. " We booked a car with autoeurope and booked the extra insurance. A total of approximately around €130. We arrived to the budget counter in palermo only to find out that we don't have extra insurance and that they have nothing to do with the autoeurope booking and that we need to pay local full insurance of total €250 and €100 deposit that later on they will return we drop the car off. We also booked a Lancia Ypsilon only to get Fiat Qubo which the lady convinced us is a better category car. She said that when we booked online it doesn't matter that we chose Lancia Ypsilon, that we can't pick a car, only a category. After I complained that fiat qubo is too big for us, we specifically wanted a smaller car because of narrow streets, we got renault clio in the end. The final insurance was €284 and not €250 how she said. When we returned the car, we got the bill that we will only get €66 back. When I complained, the woman said "madam, it's simple math" I am very unsatisfied because the car rental was supposed to be €130 and in the end when we arrived we had to pay €290 extra and we didnt have the option to cancel the reservation because they would charge us some fee anyway. Of course we had the option of not getting the extra insurance but she scared us with big fines plus when booking with autoeurope we picked an extra insurance but the lady convinced us that that is not enough and sicily had local extra insurance. I think it is not okay to trick customers like that and I am completely disappointed. "

When the car was returned the person checking the car over had difficulty discerning where the previous damage had been done because there was so much of it. " Worst rental car experience I've ever had by far. Car had problems, I called everyone possible from Budget, Avis and Autoeurope and no one seemed to have a solution to get us a new car. This car had 75000 Kilometers and was not being maintained. It doesn't take much to see the brake pads need to be changed. "
" Very poor experience. My wife, 2 small children and I rented the car in Rome to drive up through Italy to Germany. We were stopping along the way to see different places. We noticed after a few hours of driving the brakes were sounding bad. We stopped in the Bolzano Office and let Budget know about the problem but they stated they had no cars available there. We then tried Tesero and Innsbruck before having to leaving for Germany. No cars were available. We got to a small town in Germany called Hohenschwangau and had to call emergency roadside assistance when the brakes were starting to grind. Budget towed the car away and we had to get a Hotel room while we waited for them to provide us a new car. 2 days passed after contacting Budget, Avis and Autoeurope numerous times. Finally budget told me the only solution was to get back to Bolzano where they would have a car for us. The only way to get there the day they said this was by Taxi. The cost was 380 euros, which I had to pay for, along with a canceled Airbnb and 2 nights in a hotel. "

" We picked up a car from Budget Milan MXP. The car was parked in a tight spot and it was touching the other car. It was impossible to inspect it well in the car park. I heard that they were talking about those fees and surcharges and she told him in Italian language, without knowing that i understand, that those should not be in the invoice. So, when i asked your representative from the desk what "location surcharge" is representing she told me that these are "airport taxes because of the accident" !!! What accident? We are talking about one scratched tire and about 50 euro for so called "location surcharge" !!! This is 15 euros more than i paid for the rental. I asked Budget rep to show me where is written about "location surcharge" and why i should pay for this and she replied that anyway i will be reimbursed by the insurance company for the entire amount so i don't have to be bothered by that. It's exactly what the guy from the parking lot told me, but nobody told me what i should do and nobody gave me a claim form or any information about the insurance or the insurance company. Another representative of Budget was involved in the conversation and gave me a copy of terms and conditions, that you can see attached. I don't see anything about "Location surcharge". I told them that i consider the whole situation an abuse and they told me that the insurance company will reimburse me with total amount. I'm totally confused: how can i be reimbursed? Another source of confusion is this: i searched the prices in Italy for Goodyear tire for Peugeot 308 SW and they are between 79 and 98 euros, so why your company is charging 156.41 euro without VAT ? It's almost double of the normal price. How can i know that the tire will be replaced? It is a normal principle of all charges/payments: they have to have to represent a certain product or service, otherwise they are illicit/unlawful. Ok, i can agree that a certain cost for damage processing fee is due, is written in the voucher from Autoeurope, but the other charges are illicit, because they don't represent any product or service that i used. Let me tell you that just a month ago i was in Bari and i rented a car from another rental car company, Maggiore, and i paid only the rental service, without any other surcharges, taxes or fees. "

" I was very disappointed with Auto Europe customer support. On the 29th of July there was a strike in the Italian railway service. I was very late and when I asked Auto Europe to confirm that I will get the car at 10 PM instead of 8 PM. The answer was negative as it was too late and I was asked to make a new reservation and abandoned the first one and the money. Very unprofessional. Luckily for me Budget is a serious company and they had a car for me when I arrived at almost 11 PM. I will never do business with Auto Europe again. "

" Let me share my latest experience of car rental in Sicily, Italy. We have spent 3 hours in a crowd of people waiting for car pick up. The office was full of people. More then 100 people with a lugage were quing in front of the Budget office and in the street due to lack of space. On top of that it was very hot and many people with young kids, like us. "

" First the staff counter was to rude and not helpful at all we had book 2 cars and we had to wait almost2 hours and whn our turns came the staff says she needs both licenses . Luckily i had so got the car but Not the same one as promised and thn she said i have to pay the balance amt pending and this i showed tht i have made full payements and the extra fuel n gps is only pending she still says tht u have to pay this much as we were stuck as our 25 days trip had started my friend requested to chagne they said no its cant be changed or refunded the booking is lost whihc was very absurd. Thn the gps given was worthless whenever we put the address it never fount the location so had to use my phone google maps to find the places "

" My flight was delayed and I was unable to pick up the car I had booked on the day of my booking, as the flight got in way after the closing time of the rental agency counter. I called Budget to inform them of the flight situation, I also had previously inserted my flight details in the booking. I was told that the booking is valid only that day and if I am unable to pick up the car, I am going to lose my booking and have to make a new one the next day. I understand that certain terms apply, but is it really necessary to be that strict in a situation where I am physically unable to pick up a car that I have booked because of a flight delay, have already paid for and would be happy to use. Fortunately there were cars available the next day and after having paid 200€ extra because my selected car category was not available, we were able to drive off. From there on everything worked perfectly. I have been using Budget for our rental needs for a few years and never have had any trouble, but after this trip, not too sure anymore. "
