We were also not informed how their shuttle to the airport operated...again, more questions we had to ask. I also asked for a final receipt to have confirmation that we turned in the vehicle and were not being charged any unnecessary fees or costs. The staff member quickly and abruptly remarked "you'll receive a receipt within 3 days." We still have not received any final receipt. I would be very hesitant about reserving a vehicle again through Avis at that location. "

Long story: This happened ~20:30 and we were able to call the road assistance and Avis Assistance and sort all things out by 21:30. However, we have been told that AVIS Airport South is closing at 23:00 and it would be too late to pick up another car. We also been told that Airport South (cca 50 mins away from our location) is the only place to pick up a new car. When we asked if we could pick it up at Airport North (cca 15 mins from our location) it is not possible. We agreed that we will then come by taxi the next day after Avis will call us in the morning to sort the taxi transport for us. Nobody called. After My 100th call (see attachment) with incredible long waiting time with my limited Spanish I was able to arrange a taxi at noon... Taxi refused taking us to South Airport saying that our car is prepared in North and that it is closer. I tried to claim that I am aware of the convenience but that AVIS need to rent us the car in South where we rented it. Taxi driver called again AVIS and told us that North it is (his EN was limited to any further explanations). Arriving after noon to the airport we were asked to pay 100 euros for the accident. Although we claimed "zero excess liability" we have been first told that this is not including the tires. "Because it is not normal to have 2 flat tires. It is only 1 usually". " I was told by Avis that my Visa card was being refused by my bank, in fact Avis tried without any permission to input an incorrect pin twice resulting in it being declined. My bank told me this later on investigation. This is a form of fraud to get me to use an alternate card. They also insisted I buy extra insurance despite having Europas Max cover. "

" Although the overall experience with the car booking and the actual driving experience was perfectly ok, I do have to mention this particular incident that took place at the rental office. From my personal experience, it seems like a pattern the fact that you never get the car you actually booked, but a car of a slightly lower value. To be more specific, I booked on-line (and paid) a VW Golf from AVIS - there were 3 compact cars available on the website at the moment of booking, having different prices, in the following ascending order: Seat Leon, VW Golf and Audi A3 (all from AVIS). At the rental office in Malaga airport (although this exact situation happened at other renting locations), I was informed that the only car available for my reservation is a SEAT ARONA. At this point, I have to mention that I booked the car with at least 6 weeks in advance and that I arrived at the rental office at the exact time I indicated in advance. The lady from the rental office already started doing the contractual formalities when she announced me that I will get the SEAT ARONA, "the only car available and it is similar to a SEAT LEON, just higher". It was in vain to explain to her that the VW Golf I booked is superior to the alternative I was offered. The attitude of having to accept the ONLY alternative that I was provided seemed quite disturbing. Moreover, when picking-up the car in the car parking, I was surprised to see that VF GOLF and other compact cars were right next to the SEAT ARONA I was taking (the other cars seemed ready to be taken, not in the checking process). It is not the only time this uncomfortable situation happened to me when renting cars from Avis. "

Our only complaint is that we were told that the extra insurance we decided to by would be € 88. We rejected the one who included front screen and tires. Yet AVIS did charge our credit card for the complete insurance of € 125,79. No big deal, but we think that you should ask AVIS to repay the difference of € 38 in order to put things straight. "

The competing company next door said "SHE IS SOMETIMES LATE" We waited 30 minutes...no-one still showed up. We went down to the return car section and the Avis lass there was open - she input our details and sorted car. Then she says to remove the insurance excess you need to pay E350....the rental of the car was only E310 ???? What the ??? Then she can't work out the days for charging us the excess ???? Then she doesn't know how to show us the GPS ???? We are now not impressed !!!! We had booked a car the week before thru you guys - with Europe car who we have used before many times in Europe - they were VERY good. Avis are rubbish in Australia and seem to be rubbish in Europe too - and we will never use them again. "
