" The vehicle had a service reminder symbol on the dash when I picked it up on April 8. I accepted it anyway. On April 10, the car displayed an "engine failure" warning. The car's speed was limited and we went to the nearest town. We called road service, the mechanic could not fix anything there and towed the vehicle leaving us in El Saucejo, Spain. We were not able to contact Alamo on the phone. We found a local taxi driver and paid 80 Euro to get to Ronda, where we had hotel reservations. I was only able to contact Alamo with the assistance of the spanish speaking hotel employee. When the Madrid Alamo office answered the phone, they transferred me to a UK phone center. I was also sending email to Alamo during this time. Finally a manager contacted me via email and arranged for a car to available in Malaga. I was told they would not bring a car to my location in Ronda. We took a taxi the next day to Malaga at a cost of 150 euro and picked up the car. The rest of the rental was OK. I have been unable to get any response from Alamo since then. My rental cost was not adjusted for the loss of 1 day nor was I offered reimbursement for the cost of our taxis. I won't ever use Alamo again. "

It would be great if it would be possible to pay for the charging of the car as the park place, so fast and without complications, or if Alamo would have some unique card to avoid every download of apps or registration, paying through the Alamo account. " I've already reached out to the Customer Service and they told me to wait till the rental end, so just to reiterate - I believe this is the first time we are having an issue with Autoeurope booking being a longtime client (since at least 2012). We had a booking EU19897867 for an Audi A3 or similar, Compact Elite, and got a Cupra Formentor instead which is definitely not in the same class (we expected a BMW/Mercedes as an alternative and those are what we would usually get, not a Seat). Also, the booking EU19897846 was for an Opel Insignia Estate or similar (we needed a big trunk so we booked an estate), Standard Wagon Automatic, instead we got an Opel Grandland which is a compact SUV and not a wagon in any way. It's 50 cm shorter than Insignia Estate and has a much smaller trunk. The company representative kept telling us those are the same category cars as the ones we ordered "and I don't have anything else anyway", but we find it very hard to believe because during the booking process we saw both of those options and they had entirely different tariffs. We strongly believe that both of these cars are cheaper, different categories, and lower quality than the ones we ordered. Took lot of time to collect the car and the vehicle was not ready and was under wash .. Took almost half an hour waiting which delayed my hotel check out . Also the car which I booked was ford KA diesel but was given a petrol car Toyota Iggo . Not at all a satisfactory experience and needs lots of improvements as compared to other renting companies like Avis , Budget etc. "

With the complexities of inner-city traffic lanes, signage and a busy train station detailed instructions giving information about nearby fuel suppliers and PRECISE location of the rental office would have been helpful. Dropping the car back took longer as there were big queues, may be worth having a few extra customer service representatives on the desk to speed things up, when people are catching flights queuing for 15 mins to hand a car back is nerv racking! " I have been a customer of Auto Europe for many years and have recommended it to friends. This is the first rental which has turned out to be a disaster. but it is not the fault of Auto Europe, it is the fault of Alamo -- see below for details. "
" This was a disaster. The rented car broke down twice on our return trip to Barcelona airport -- battery problems both times. Roadside assistance fixed the first one and we then drove non-stop to a petrol station at the airport to fill up. but the car wouldn't start again! we had to abandon car at the station. Upshot we missed our flight to Paris; our son, his wife, our grandson missed their flight to London. We were able to get a later flight to Paris that night but our son and his family had to stay overnight in a Barcelona hotel and fly back to London the following day. The extra costs to us came to almost 650 euros and I am currently trying to recover this from Alamo. I will never rent from them again! "

" I went to collect a car but I was refused it for an incomprehensible reason. In fact they asked a driving license and an ID issued by the same country, that I don't have as I have lived abroad for many years. Main reason for the request was a safety concern whose written evidence weren't able to show on any of the contractual documents I had. I was forced to rent another car with a competitor, fortunately next door, which had no problem at all to rent to me. When requested Enterprise to pay back the much more expensive bill they refused. I strongly recommend to avoid renting with them as they demonstrated a clear unwillingness to provide a quality service to their customers. "
