" I have used lots of car rental companies in Spain and find most of them ok. On most occasions, when returning a car, the agent has a quick look over the vehicle and then signs it off. However this time, the agent spent quite a long time, going all over the car with a bright light, seemingly looking for something. He discovered two wheels with marks and declared them damaged for which we were liable. As explained above, the car was already damaged with holes, scratches and dents and the imperfections to the wheels, would hardly be noticed amongst all the others. To see the damage you would have to go up to the wheels, with a bright light to see anything, particularly in the darkness of the carpark building. It felt like he was on some kind of commission, to find things wrong with the car, so as to penalise us and squeeze more rental out of us. Again, as explained above, I am sure the company will just pocket the fee and no repair will be made "

" Terrible!!!! The representative I spoke with on the phone from Auto Europa also seemed to be familiar with rental requirements. He kept changing his explanations. First he said we should not have a problem getting a car, then after speaking with Centauro girl he changed his explanation. "

She said it was against the law to give us the car without that document. She even made it seem like it was just a requirement for "American" drivers. We prepaid for our rental and couldn't even get a refund. I understand there is a no refund policy in the case of cancellations, however in our case we did not cancel. We showed up to get our car, it just wasn't given to us. We ended up going with another car rental company and they gave us a vehicle even without that international driving document that the girl at Centauro said was "mandatory". Never again will I use Auto Europe or Centauro again. "

" It took us approx 1h of waiting to get to the counter to get the car. They had 4-5 counters open and I had a ticket no with less than 10 person before. Amazing that they can make it so slow. All have prebookd cars but they still have to do so much adminstration. Centuoro should improve the process. With the new queing system telling the bookings that are in the quee, someone in back office can prepare the keys and papers so it should take like 3 min to get the car when you arrive to the desk. "

Centauro - not enough staff to deal with the number of customers and they need to address the issue to the state of the cars - it would make sense for them to accompany the customer to the car to verify damage. While I was there every single customer came back into reception to raise issue with the damage to their hire cars which was not marked on the paperwork !! "
" Waited in a queue for over 40 mins while the assistant kept disappearing to deal with other customers outside. He went through the booking paperwork & said if there was any damage outside of that marked to come back to him. When I actually got to the vehicle there was more damage than car, it was filthy, hadnt been hoovered and the tyres were low on air. Most of the damage was not marked. I went back to speak to the same lad as I was told to do, he was rude and dismissive and told me to go and find someone outside, this was now over an hour after picking up the car. I eventually got someone to come and accept the damage to the car - they eventually offered to change but as I was not already late for an appointment I needed to leave. "

" I rented a car for what I thought was an incredible deal, 109 euros with Seguro Supreme. When I arrived to get my car I was told there was no insurance and I had to pay 146 euros more or put 1,050 euros on my credit card in case of an incident. The gentleman behind me heard the discussion and said he too had been told the same thing on line. He and I showed the young lady our online contract which said nothing about what we're told at the counter. I would never recommend Centauro to anyone. I prefer the truth up front. "

When taking the car to Centauro their staff member was extremely sympathetic and immediately refunded a percentage of some euros that they were able to. They said we had to contact Auto Europe direct for a refund of the car hire. Upon returning to the UK Auto Europe were extremely blunt and unhelpful - the young man said "we don't give refunds". I emailed to complain and was sent a link that did not provide me with the correct pathway and, eventually, gave up. We are three weeks car hire out of pocket. Would not recommend you. "

" I am sorry for my late reply as I thought I already made my comments. My family and I are still travelling when I received your email and I prepared to use a laptop for my reply and not a smart phone. Here is my comments; When I picked up the car, the body and wind screen was not clean. Traces of rain or water to the body are visible. I have to cleaned the windscreen for better view.I had taken a picture for proof. Upon driving at about 100 kms. towards Madrid the car had a flat tire at right rear side. Parked at the side of the road and a car stopped and pretend to help but end up robbing us. I lost my back pack and my daughters hand bag with our money,passports,credit cards,cell phones and jewelries. But luckily upon driving for about 5 kms to the Police Headquarters to report the robbery, we found my back pack and my daughters bag seating besides the road but no more cash and jewelries. Thank God all the documents are back. Upon discovering that we were been robbed,It was about 12:00 ( + - ) noon, I called up Centour Office in Barcelona Road assistance, it was just a few seconds the robber left. I had told him the incident but No assistance I got from their side. If only they did something, reported to authorities the robber maybe had caught as they are still inside the motorway. We managed to replaced the tire using the Spare and drove to the Police Station to file the complaint. Then drive to Madrid for about 600 kms. Arrived in Madrid around 11:00 PM. This is because we have to spend few hours with the Police and also cannot drive fast as the car is only using a spare tire. In addition, it was raining and the wiper blade cannot wipe the windshield and instead it blocked the view and I cannot see anything. As mentioned above,I had taken pictures to show how dirty are the blades. I did called up Barcelona office at about 08:30AM the next day and spoken to Mr.Marcos and ask him about the status of my car tire. But unfortunately, he does not have any clue what I am talking about after giving him my car Plate Number. I am expecting that everything had been arranged after a lot of hours had been reported it. That is my reason why I did called Barcelona road assistance upon leaving police station to inform them that I am already on the way to Madrid so that they can arrange a tire replacement when we arrived in Madrid. I told him where I am staying and asked to give me the address of nearest Confort Car Service. Considering it was my first time in Madrid I only managed to find the place at about 14:00 PM but then the shop do not have a tire on stock. I told him to look for the tire size and just advise me when he find a correct size. Went to 2 places but then no stock available. This time I told him to look first as I do not want to drive all over Madrid finding tire. Luckily we managed to find a tire, fixed and completed it at 19:30 PM. I do not think your road assistance crew knew how important to have a spare tire to drive in a highway and how unsafe to drive with a spare tire for 600 miles. Spare tire/rim is only designed to drive the car to the nearest repair shop and not for long driving. We are a group of 6 with my family and we intend to visit Madrid for touring. This is also our first time in Madrid. We had just wasted our holidays because of the tire. If only we did not had a flat tire,we will not STOP on the road side. And if everything had been arranged when we reached Madrid, we will not spend the whole day looking for tire. You may need to considered to train your road side assistance crew as it is useless. I had been renting a car to a known company and their road support are very reliable. I even told Mr.Marcos that I would like to change the car if the tire cannot be changed as I do not want to drive with a spare tire and no spare in the Hi way. And his reply was shocking as I will only get a replacement car in Barcelona. I had taken a complete insurance and I understand that lost of personal things are not included.
