" The initial car developed a check engine light about halfway to my destination. Got it swapped out with a different car which developed a "add oil" light after 2 days. Got that fixed. But the major problem was that the car got hit while parked in a legal parking space in Henrichmont. I contacted AutoEurope to tell them and they informed me I had to contact the local police, which I did as soon as my friend (who speaks French) got back that day. We spoke with the police who said they did not take reports on an accident that they called "amicable" (the other party admitted total responsibility and filled out the proper paperwork. Upon returning the car to the Charles deGaulle airport, I pointed out the problem, the man took my accident report, told me everything was fine and to leave, which I did. THEN I got an email telling me to fill out the report - however, Avis already had the report. I went back the next day to speak with a manager. He wasn't available, but the agent told me he would send me an email within an hour. Two days later I still don't have any communication. I WILL NOT PAY for the accident - it wasn't my fault, the police were contacted (I have the name and phone number of the officer) and AVIS HAS THE REPORT - THEY TOOK IT FROM ME WHICH HAS ALL THE OTHER PARTY'S INFORMATION. I am completely stressed out - this is ruining my vacation and I want this resolved. "

We called the Avis roadside service number provided but it could only help in France (car picked up in Nice). They gave me the Italy number, but Avis Italy couldn't help until we were off the autostrada. Eventually we opened the hood and found that one of the battery cables had come completely off of the battery! We reconnected it and went on our way after 2 hours in which no assistance was ever received. Even a cursory safety inspection of the vehicle by Avis should have revealed the loose battery cable. "

I was not informed that in Lyon at the time and date of my drop off no one would be there, the Avis station is closed (car dropped off around 7pm on a Saturday). This made it very difficult to drop the car and go to the airport without any indication and no one to ask. Furthermore I was charged 30€ for extra cleaning inside (they sent two pictures of the floor and on of the gear shift with some crumbles on) but the car needs only vaccuming. Carpet is not dirty or stained and seat the same, not dirty not stained. I don't understand why the charge. Don't they vaccum normally every time a car is back? Furthermore I've been trying to contact them on the phone and for one reason or another I've not been able to speak about it to anyone since I received the invoice. No words, not even cheap budget rental companies have this kind of customer service. Non existent. "

" I have been renting cars through AutoEurope for all our family holidays since many years. This is the first time I am renting from Avis, however. Unfortunately, for the very first time, I had two incidents during the rental period - first a collision and subsequently a flat tyre for which I could not immediately find a replacement tyre (the tyre had to be replaced). Roadside assistance was very helpful and efficient and really helped in the collision accident. I felt very reassured despite the trauma of the accident. I got the car towed rapidly and got a replacement on the next day. Geneva airport AVIS desk was also very efficient when picking up the car and returning it. However, during the rental period and because of the two incidents I needed to speak to Avis personnel and it was impossible to get hold of Avis representatives on the phone despite tens of calls. Geneva airport desk was not reachable. Since I was located close to Grenoble when I had a flat tyre, I tried calling Grenoble office (Roadside Assistance recommended speaking to the nearest Avis office) and it was very difficult to get them to answer the phone. When they did answer, they could not speak in English and refused to help, despite me being courteous and asking for help. The second time I called, they again said that they only speak French and actually cut the line on me. I found this to be very offensive and really poor customer care. Overall, it was very frustrating to not be able to speak to Avis representatives and receive help and guidance in a country which is not my own. I expected better from Avis. Quickpass registration did not work on the website either. "

The agreed return office at the Brussels Gare du Midi was closed well before our designated drop-off time, and apparently had not been open at all that day. We had no idea where or how to return the car. Calls to all the local Avis numbers went unanswered. An international call to Avis Europe reached an agent who said we should put the car in the lot and leave the keys in the lock box, but he had no idea where these were. We drove around the area of the station and eventually found the entrance to a grarage with a very small rental car return sign. We found Avis spaces in the garage, but no attendants. The posted instructions were incomplete and essentially useless. Finally we found a single piece of paper taped to a random wall, with one corner hanging loose, that said what to do. But we had spent almost an hour, much of it in a state of anxiety, returning the car. I will never rent from Avis again, and if AutoEurope attempts to book me with Avis, I will cancel the transaction. "

I was told because I cancelled w/in 48 hours prior to our rental they were doing me a favor by only charging me a fee ~$300 and not the entire amount of the rental ~$900. This car rental was the ONLY company that charged me a cancellation fee. I told the operators we have postponed our trip and will be needing a car in August 2020 and wanted to move the reservation to this date. I was still charged the fee. I would like you to know how unsatisfying this experience was for me. I take my family to Europe every March/April and sometimes we rent a car. I will not be using your services in the future. When I called the Auto Europe US 800 number due to the train strike, needing to extend our car rental, the American rep had to transfer me to the Germany office who then told me they couldn't help and I would need to contact Avis directly. (Isn't that what you all are there for?? To help when there's a problem--evidently not.) The German Auto Europe office wasn't open the hours that the rep thought it was, it was morning in Europe, and it took several calls to the American 800 number to finally get through and be told they wouldn't help. I had to search for the Avis number at the train station and call them directly anyway. The end result was more time and stress than I felt necessary if customer service had been better and what I had expected. Thank you for asking. "

" First of all we paid in advance March 20 th ,2019. For Euron 1953.54We upgraded from a Peugeot 5008 to a Mercedes Nitro for 400.00 euro. The Mercedes broke down in Forcalquier around 1:00 pm which is about 2. Hrs away from Avignon. They send the tow truck which took 3 hrs and many calls to them and they took us to the nearest town to pick up another car at Avis ! When we got there there was no car available because Avis Avignon didn't reserve a car for us. They just told us to go there. Finally they decided to call a taxi for us to bring us to Avignon to pick up a car. By that time it was close to 8:30. It is next to impossible, or prohibitively costly, to get a taxi back to Geneva from the French side, such that I had to call a friend and asked her to pick me up. Clients should be informed of this and you should lobby Geneva airport authorities to allow Swiss residents clients with rental vouchers from the French side to proceed directly to the car rental offices, as used to be the case until March 2019. " I rented the car on the French side of Geneva airport and was unable to access the rental desk from the Swiss side of the airport, whose access is reserved for passengers with a boarding pass. a mere car rental voucher does not provide access. Though the offices were a mere few meters away from the Swiss airport side, I had to take a taxi that cost me 33 swiss francs to get on the French side. I had booked a Fiat 500 but was offered a Seat model. Upon asking if a Fiat was available, the Avis staff found one but it had to be prepared, such that i had to wait at least 30 extra minutes for the car to be available. At pick-up, a credit card charge of 93+ euros was taken to cover gas refill (to be reimbursed upon return of car with full gas tank). Such a charge, even if not levied, is clearly excessive given that filling the tank cost 45 euros at most. Also, even though I returned the car at 7pm on Sunday evening, I have yet to receive a final invoice message (by noon on Wednesday). I do not understand the reasons for such delays. "

Wen he said what sum must be charged, i think it was with fuel deposit and was not cotrolled the bill. Now i found, that i was 1. charged for 96,48 for car class upgrade from C to J, so, total rent amount increased up to 283,50 EUR 2. Only 104.52 were deducted from this amount instead of 129.48 already paid and i was charged for a 179,78 EUt: As a result, I paid 309.26 EUR (129.48 in December 2018 at the time of booking + 179.78 at the Avis office at the car pick up) instead of 211.98 EUR !!! I am not satisfied with this service and I want to solve this problem "
