" All good across the board the only thing that is unclear is insurance. For example I have travel insurance that covers car rental issues etc then Auto Europe provides their own coverage and then the actual renter tries to seel theirs as well. Really hard to navigate the insurance situation. "

" My flight was rescheduled by Air France after booking the car. I informed Goldcar by telephone ahead of pick-up and was told there was no issue as long as the delay was less than 6 hours. I arrived at Goldcar's pick up desk with 1.5h delay vs booked time. No car was available. I had to wait for another two hours before a returned car could be handed to me. Staff was rather friendly but I was still delayed in my plans. "

" I think AVIS/Budget should see how to make the MG Hybrid more reliable and not have the obligation to recharge the hybrid battery. "

" The Avis/Budget staff were very good. They gave me a new vehicle with 17km on the counter. It was a hybrid MG. However, there seems to be a design problem when the hybrid battery is empty for some reason the small battery for the normal engine is under stress and the car stalls with an empty battery. The car stalled at a light at 1am and I had to call a tow truck. The staff gave me another MG hybrid with 37,000km that drove well but again when the hybrid battery was empty the car would not even open ... Luckily we were with friends and were able to jump start the car, giving us access to the hybrid battery charger, charged the hybrid battery and drove around to recharge the 12V engine battery. It seems to be a design flaw between then Hybrid battery and the normal 12V vehicle battery. I am pretty sure AVIS/Budget are as upset with this as the customers. It is either a design flow with the MG Hybrid or a bad setting that needs to be changed quickly. "

" I would have given 10 for everything, BUT on the collection of the car I asked about recharging facilities in Paris and they told me that there was no problem at all. THAT WAS NOT TRUE! There are hardly any recharging points and the on-street ones do not accept credit cards, you require an account with some company the operates the charging points. I was forced to find a Fiat dealer who fortunately was very helpful and charged the car for me. Tha range of the Fiat 500 was appalling, I drove 111 km and the battery dropped from 100% charged to 11%! After the charge I drove another 67 km by the time I returned the car and the battery had dropped from 100% to 58%. The comfortable range of the car was only 100 km between full charges and a full charge from 10% takes 6 hours. I suggest that you warn clients that the real range of an electric car is only half of the manufacturer's claims and it is essential to ask what the TRUE SITUATION about charging stations is before hiring an electric car. "

" I rented a car in Nice (France) and needed to drop it back in Lyon (France), so I went to Avis close to Aix-en-Provence and changed the drop off. I was not informed that in Lyon at the time and date of my drop off no one would be there, the Avis station is closed (car dropped off around 7pm on a Saturday). This made it very difficult to drop the car and go to the airport without any indication and no one to ask. Furthermore I was charged 30€ for extra cleaning inside (they sent two pictures of the floor and on of the gear shift with some crumbles on) but the car needs only vaccuming. Carpet is not dirty or stained and seat the same, not dirty not stained. I don't understand why the charge. Don't they vaccum normally every time a car is back? Furthermore I've been trying to contact them on the phone and for one reason or another I've not been able to speak about it to anyone since I received the invoice. No words, not even cheap budget rental companies have this kind of customer service. Non existent. "

" I have been renting cars through AutoEurope for all our family holidays since many years. This is the first time I am renting from Avis, however. Unfortunately, for the very first time, I had two incidents during the rental period - first a collision and subsequently a flat tyre for which I could not immediately find a replacement tyre (the tyre had to be replaced). Roadside assistance was very helpful and efficient and really helped in the collision accident. I felt very reassured despite the trauma of the accident. I got the car towed rapidly and got a replacement on the next day. Geneva airport AVIS desk was also very efficient when picking up the car and returning it. However, during the rental period and because of the two incidents I needed to speak to Avis personnel and it was impossible to get hold of Avis representatives on the phone despite tens of calls. Geneva airport desk was not reachable. Since I was located close to Grenoble when I had a flat tyre, I tried calling Grenoble office (Roadside Assistance recommended speaking to the nearest Avis office) and it was very difficult to get them to answer the phone. When they did answer, they could not speak in English and refused to help, despite me being courteous and asking for help. The second time I called, they again said that they only speak French and actually cut the line on me. I found this to be very offensive and really poor customer care. Overall, it was very frustrating to not be able to speak to Avis representatives and receive help and guidance in a country which is not my own. I expected better from Avis. Quickpass registration did not work on the website either. "

They assumed me requiring full protection and put it on contract, I spottd it and they amended it, however, I got notification from bank that they charged it on my credit card. When I returned the car, I asked them to provide written confirmation no such charge on my credit card, they refused and asked me to contact customer service. When I picked up the car, they only stated the car conditions on contract, no one checked the car with me. They told me I can check it myself and took a photo if I found additional damage, showed the photos to them when returning the car, this puts the risks on me. "

" It was rather strange experience. When I arrived to receive the car (booked more than 2 months before), there was no car in stock. First I was proposed some little manual car (the booked one was CDAR) - I refused. Then we were waiting for something about 1.5 hour. After that they promised that I'll get the car tomorrow (I agreed since we were staying in Paris some days more). They have ordered for us taxi to our hotel and even payed for it. On the next day they called and told that the car is ready. When we arrived, it was still in cleaning. So we got it (Not absolutely clean, but we had no time to wait. Inside it was OK). The car itself was ok (it was plugin hybrid. not charged, so the fuel consumption rather serious). It's sort of "happy end". I believe they are not "bad guys", but the situation is problematic. "

I realised that there were lots of cars there waiting to be rented so I could not understand the delay. Was then told that due to the long wait...ruined our first day trip program, we were promised a 15% discount. It's not been almost 2 weeks since our return and nothing has happened. This is a very amateur company. I have rented cars all over the world and never have I had such a bad experience. I have sent repeated emails but no response. "

" I was pushed to take an upgrade, I was ok with it. When I started driving away from the airport I had problems with the apple carplay and the car was just constantly bumping out my phone which was very annoying when driving in a city I didn't know. After a few hours of driving the car broke down. It was some kind of engine fault, luckily it was an electric hybrid so I could use the electric engine to pull in to safety. This was at 16.00. We were parked outside a shop and then I began to call Europcar. It took 6 hours of constant phone calls to get them to come and collect the car and get me and my family to our destination in a taxi. The lack of care of the support team was incredible. I gave them all the information they required to solve the case right at the start but they didn't pay attention and didn't make the efforts they needed to resolve this. Multiple times they promised to call back and then didn't which meant I had to call myself and follow up. More than once I was hung up on despite always speaking in a respectful tone of voice. The support team had very few people working who were comfortable speaking in English. I myself gave all the solutions as the support team didn't know what to do. For example we were about 45mins in a car from Lyon but the team were saying the small town we were broken down in didn't have an open Europcar venue. Lyon had ones open until 21.00 or even 22.00 but these suggestions came from me rather than the team. The team were so slow in getting the issue resolved that by the time they had everywhere was shut down. This ended up costing Europcar a lot more as they then had to spend 300 euros on a taxi to take me to my airbnb. The next day again they had to send another taxi to take me to Lyon airport to pick up a new car. For me two days of my vacation were entirely ruined by wasting time dealing with Europcar's support team who made every situation worse and cost me and the company a lot of time and money. I'm deeply disappointed in Europcar and will never use the service again, I'd happily pay more to some other company to avoid ever having to use the service again. "

" Had booked an electric car by mistake and did not realise it until we were picking up the vehicle. We expressed our concerns about having to charge the vehicle since we were going to travel 300km down south and the person serving us immediately provided us with options. He was very helpful and very patiently explained to us how electric cars worked etc, unfortunately we decided to go with a different vehicle and the change process was extremely simple. He had recommended a hybrid vehicle (at an extra cost) and we had enjoyed the vehicle during our trip. The return process was also simple and fuss-free. However, I just wished that they had informed us/reminded us when collecting the vehicle that we had to return it with a full tank, and they should have also informed us about the charges of petrol per litre should we return the vehicle with a partially filled tank. Other than that, our rental experience with Europcar was great. "

" The pick up went very quick and smooth as the desk lady was quick to check me in and she directed me to the garage to pick up the vehicle. In picking up the car the male associate seemed hurried and not very communicative. The car seemed just dropped off by another customer as it was dirty. We asked him to clean it and they did. The associate never walked us around the car for inspection nor gave us any paperwork he just explained how to open the gas door. 20 minutes after leaving I noticed just two bars on the gas guage. It took me $50 to fill up the tank. I then called to inform them of this dirty trick and they noted it. Upon drop off they admitted and gave me no hassle in dropping off the car with just two bars on the gas guage. "
