" My wife and I were forced to wait under the hot sun on the main road passing in front of the airport with heavy traffic. Not to a safe place nor to the offices. I was offered a Toyota Yaris but it was very old an a complete wreckage. I denied and they offered me a Suzuki Ignis as the only available car. Tyres were too worn and Suzuki Ignis is a class lower than the one I booked. I complained but they gave no alternative. It was "take it or leave it". I was forced to take it. Finally, after complaining again through emails, two days later I was offered a car corresponding to my booking; an Opel Corsa. I am too disatisfied with this experience. "

" Even though staff were (as always) very friendly, there was a huge queue at the counter. I understand a heavier workload due to the summer period, but we were waiting *for more than an hour*. The interesting thing was that the other car-rental companies obviously had some queues but it was nowhere near what we experienced at Alamo. Having said this, I need to stress that it's the first time I came across such an incident with Alamo in Athens "

" Auto Europe is always doing a great job. The above experience is just the fault of this nasty guy at the station. "

" The local station Manager was totally rude and arrogant. We booked the IFMR class, so a SUV to get up the hill where we lived. What we got was a MG ZS. The engine was so weak that we could not get up to the rented house even in 1st gear. So, we went back and got it exchanged against a Toyota Auris Diesel which worked well up the hill. We called the local Alamo office regarding the price difference to the now received Compact car and found a satisfactory solution of returning the car without filling it with petrol. The day we returned the vehicle, the local station Manager (Christos I believe) made a big fuss and accused us that this was our fault, we should have booked a 4x4 and now he's left with a petrol bill of 100 Euros (which is untrue, we only drove approx. 60 kms on this small island). He then called the office which confirmed our agreement and he was furious, sent us off. This is totally unprecedented and I believe he should be fired as he's damaging the company's reputation. My friend who had the same was there as a witness. "

" Petrol level was half full at pick up. I was told to bring it back also half full. A bit annoying. Car was rather old with lot of wear. The vehicle inspection report sent by email is only in Greek. I was contacted in the evening after drop off that I had not returned the car whilst I had brought the car back in the morning. Clearly not good communications between drop off and the office. I still have not received final invoice. "

The car was beat up, had over 60,000km, had a lot of scratches, and the fuel tank was less than half full. This of course caused that I paid extra for fuel, because it's very difficult to return the car with a tank in the same level that I got it. "

" good experience with auto Europe, but I did not like the fact that although we selected Alamo, a big company, we were serviced by a local agent / representative, presumably resulting in the car not being such a good option for us after all. I paid more expensive to get Alamo when ordering, as on one of my previous rentals I got a local company like golden car or something, and we ended up getting a car in worse condition, for much more money. "

" Staff was professional. We opted for the all-in insurance at the counter, but unlike in most of my rental experiences so far, they refused to offer us a car upgrade. The car was relatively new (2018 Toyota Corolla), with about 50.000km. However, it was not in a very good condition, it smelled and felt pretty old. One of the back seat safety belt holders was trapped under the seat, and it was difficult for us to install the baby seat, because there was another holder there were the belt did not fit, so it took me a while to figure it out, remove the baby seat, open up the seats, unblock and reveal the correct safety belt holder etc. Funny thing, even the seat support columns were rusty, which I have never seen in a 2 year old car. The tires were brand new, when we got the car, and the car handled well, in general. There were no front or back parking sensors, which made our life unnecessarily miserable - especially my wife's :) "

" The Alamo agent suggested that we try the Hertz or Avance agencies, as they supposedly would rent to US drivers without an International license. I called Auto Europe to see if they might be able to switch our reservation to either of those 2 companies, but they refused, so we lost the $ we paid for the booking. We ended up renting a car directly from Avance at the airport. They were a pleasure to deal with; no hassles, no hidden fees. I will not book with Auto Europe in the future. "

" We were unable to pick up the car due to not having an International Driver's license. After making the reservation with Auto Europe and reading the "fine print", I called Alamo to specifically confirm the license requirements, and was informed that an International license was NOT required in Greece. Upon arrival at the airport, however, the counter agent refused to honor our reservation without the International license; evidently the law in Greece changed one year ago. She told us we weren't the first to learn about the changes the hard way. Seems like Auto Europe would make a point to alert US drivers of the changes, in BOLD print on their website! "

" The car wasn't very clear and brakes were too sharp - difficult to drive dynamically. Didn't have any experience with Peugeot before, so maybe they're all like that. However, I tend to believe it's because of not very good service of the car. Also, one more important thing - autoeurope says it's "full to full" policy, which is not true. " The condition of the vehicle was not very good. Two main reasons: 1) No windshield wiper fluid, and with wet roads with no rain, it made it difficult to see out of the dirty windshield 2) No radio antenna, which made for poor radio station reception and a very boring rental period "

In review, I should have requested a better looking car but we had already been 3 weeks on the road. Also for some reason the AC fan did not work for about an hour but then we stopped and restarted the car and the fan worked for the remainder of the trip. "

" First of all it is not at the airport as advertised, but you have to use shuttle service. Second, they would not accept the credit card of my daughter (which was the one I used to pay for the reservation) because I do not own a credit card of my own. For that reason they forced me to pay additional for insurance although I had purchased REFUNDABLE EXCESS WITH SUPERCOVER from AutoEurope. They said it was irrelevant. And on top of that to overcome their refusal to take my daughter's credit card for deposit, I gave 200 EUR cash and they returned it when I returned the vehicle. Overall I will never use Alamo again. "

" Because 5 people, I booked an SUV (eg Suzuki Grand Vitara). Without informing I was downgraded to a Fiat Tipo. (which is a small family car, definitely not an SUV). Once I saw problem (in Athens, first you wait for papers, then to other office, to wait for Key, and then I walked to the car) I tried to call your offices ... which are open from 12.00 to 19.00 hr. I did not want to loose another hour. At car return, I made the remark. Guy said ... yes indeed, sorry. If I would have taken a Family car via Hertz, Avis or another serious company, it would have been cheaper. I would expect a partial refund. If not Auto-Europe is banned, including comments on travelers platorms. "
