" Our original flight was canceled putting us in a day late. Our communications to Hertz, both by phone and email, went unanswered. This left us negotiating with the counter on the day we arrived. Also, we experienced a flat tire. We changed the tire ourselves because I would have taken Hertz hours to respond. We were close to Bristol but the Bristol Hertz office told us to take the car to a tire shop. The Tire Shop could not get us in for 3 days. We ended up driving on spare tire all the way back to Heathrow, over 100 miles and only at 50 mph on the M4, on a spare tire. Bottom line is we probably will not use Hertz again because it's support infrastructure in the UK is minimal. "

" The counter man was a conman. I had booked an intermediate car, a Skoda Octavia. He immediately offered me an 'upgrade', a Volvo automatic model BXC40. I refused it but he insisted. I said I wanted a car of the same class I had ordered and he assured me this car was of the same class. I kept on refusing but he said he would charge me an extra £50. I said no. He said OK, I'll charge you £40. I did not hear him say £40 PER DAY. Nor did my daughter who was with me. Then he started bullshitting me saying "that's a nice watch you're wearing" etc. Eventually I accepted. When we got to the car I didn't like it and went back to him in the office and insisted I got the Octavia, which incidentally was sitting 2 cars away from the Volvo. He came out with me and with a lot of smooth talking kept on insisting the Volvo was of the same class. The whole procedure took over 30 minutes and finally we agreed to take the Volvo, as he had promised to charge only an extra £40 pounds. He eventually gave me confirmation receipt and, entirely my fault, I signed it without checking it!!! 2 days later, and 500 miles away I did check the receipt and discovered to my horror that he had charged me an extra £600. Now I had already paid AutoEurope Euro 595.61, and now I had an extra £600 to pay. I know it was my fault for not checking the receipt, but he really wore us out with a lot of bullshit. I feel you should tell Hertz that this individual is doing the company a lot of harm. I might add that the car was excellent. I have rented cars from AutoEurope at least 25 times and I have always had excellent service until now. And I'm even a Hertz Gold member. Never again will I use Hertz. "

" I was unable to get to the UK due to a breakdown (in Spain) on my way to the airport. I called auto europe to cancel the booking which I had only made about 12 hrs earlier, but they said it was not possible since it had to be cancelled 48 hrs in advance. It is not right that a booking made less than 48 hrs in advance cannot be cancelled maybe with a small fee but should not charge the full amount. I am not happy with Auto europe as a result. "

When we did as requested the supervisor accused us of having done the damage. We had only driven it from the bay to the drop off area.. The supervisor was haughty and insisted Hertz couldn't have done the damage. He stated it was his decision as to who was responsible. In other words even though we reported it before we left the bay we could have been made responsible. He was rude when the photos showed that we did not do the damage. It was a very bad way to treat a customer and it reflects poorly upon Hertz. "

" It îs not the first time when using a Hertz car booked with you(autoeurope.com), I encountered problems. It is like they are not happy with customers not booking cars directly with them. First time I paid too much for a car booked in Frankfurt( the lady at the desk made me believe that the local tax is an extra insurance, so I paid a double bill). Now I booked the car at Heathrow Airport, London, but the car wasn't at the airport as I expected, or as I booked trying to avoid a shuttle, but it was nearby, approx 15 minutes away. The counter staff was very professional, I took the car by myself, I did an external check, everything looked ok, the keys were in the car. When I came back to drop the car, we were in a hurry, they were very quick to take the car back but the person checking the car found a scratch at one of the wheels. We looked but we see no scratch, I didn't sign the release of the car being told that ,,the office" will contact me. I took some pictures of the claimed damage and we ran not to loose the flight. When I looked at the pictures taken I saw there was indeed a very small scratch, impossible to notice in the current situation (low light, position of the wheel, etc) making me to believe IT WAS A PRE EXISTING CONDITION, KNOWN BY HERZ. The damage is so small that I'm sure that I didn't see it when I did my external walk around check, but the person that knew the car knew it and spotted in poor light conditions and with the scratch facing the ground?? I have pictures of the wheel, I am still waiting HERZ to contact me. "

First of all I did a reservation for an Astra midsize and the staff member of hertz at the office want to give me a small car( category B, Honda Jazz) after I explain and show the Auto Europe voucher, I did a reservation for a group C an Astra or a similar car. With Hertz company a C group car is a Seat Leon, a Opel Astra a Kia Ceed a Ford Focus or a Toyota Avencis, a Renault Kaptur is not in this group but the staff at the Hertz office with name John Walsh said "I can't do anything, I have just this two cars, the Honda jazz or the Renault Kaptur" After this upsetting episode I asked for a midsize car ( Opel Astra or a similar car) and the only car that they had was a Renault Kaptur. I did my reservation 4days before the date of pick-up the car so I can't understand why I arrived to Hertz at Bournemouth airport and they hadn't the Opal Astra or a similar car from the same group. I payed for one car and I received a car from a different category. The other thing is, I said I will drop-off the car with full tank but when I had the car for the first time in my hands the tank wasn't full and again the staff from Hertz doesn't gave any relevant interest to that. I drop-off the car with full tank but the fuel tank pointer wasn't working properly because the fuel tank pointer wasn't moving to the top and the fuel was coming out from the tank. "

On the second day of our hire an alarm showed that the tyre pressure was low, we pumped the tyres but the warning light did not go. When we returned the car we explained this to the man who checked the car. He said that the car should notmhave been given tomus in that condition (he meant the scrapes etc). It was also not as clean as we would expe t on the outside. We have now received an invoice and have been charged what we think is extra for damage but it does not explain what the damage is. We are raising this directly with Hertz too. "
