" I had to rebook another car paying additional amount (more than 50% extra of the original booking amount) as Avis staff said I was late to pick up my car and auto Europe had cancelled my booking. Why can't auto Europe hold my car at least for few hours when I have paid for my booking in full. I had a very tough time getting it sort out with Avis and auto Europe staff. My family with two kids also had to wait for hours to get the rebooked car and sort out the issue. I talked to auto Europe customer support agent over phone and they were not helpful. No more business with auto Europe. So weird experience. Never had such experience while renting from any other company even when I was late. "

" My trip had to be cancelled owing to last minute changes relating to COVID-19 in NW England. I asked to pick up the car a day later, but both you and Avis said this was not possible. Nor was it possible to get a (partial) refund. ( The Government restrictions were imposed after the deadline to be able to cancel for Free.) Both party's blamed the other for this lack of understanding and customer care. A very disappointing experience, even if COVID affects things not under your control. " AVIS overcharged us on the pick-up. Their employee charged our credit card with £ 383.77 instead of the £ 200 deposit he told us he would charge the card for without telling us. He then explained to us that our Hyundai i10 rental would cost an extra £ 183.77 to the additional £ 77 we already head paid (for the two days). On the return we were given a phone number were we could complain and get our money back. After more than 10 tries over multiple days somebody has still to pick up this phone numbers. On some occasions our calls were actively declined. "

" Overall very happy, but the car had more scratches on it than they had written down on the paperwork so I had to get someone to go over it all with me and add the extra scratch details before I left the collection point . I also pointed out that it was dark and I couldn't properly check the car over but the young man shrugged it off like there wasn't anything he could do about that. Other car hire companies give you until the following morning around 11am to report any other problems/damage to the car but the young man didn't know if Avis has the same conditions . "
" Overall happy but the lady who served me wanted to downgrade the car I had booked (or similar ) but as none similar were available she started to prepare for a smaller car. I had to insist on one similar size to what I'd booked particularly as I was picking up family with lots of luggage . She ended up asking someone for advice ( no problem there), and also told me that a larger car will cost me more so I had to insist again on her providing me with the one I had booked. In the end she had no choice but to give me a slightly larger car at no extra cost. I wasn't prepared to pay extra as it wasn't my fault that the car I had booked was unavailable . And a larger car would also mean I'd have to pay more for petrol . Anyway the problem was resolved quickly . "

We were offered an 'upgrade' that didn't appear to us to be an upgrade and the car had been carelessly valeted. On the return of the car Avis claimed damage to the offside Alloy wheels. " Having paid extra to pick up in the airport I was disappointed to have to get a shuttle bus to the "Car rental village" not knowing where this was the bus went past before I could signal to the driver to stop, at drop off, in a fierce cold wind, two buses passed my daughter and I before one finally stopped. As I was in the UK for my father's funeral I was disappointed to learn on my return to Spain that the hire companies charge more than double than those in my home town, from now on, I will be getting a taxi and hiring from a local firm. " I reserved this car with a collection time of 5PM at Prestwick Airport. My flight arrived 15 minutes late and i immediately went to the desk only to find everything locked up. I located a telephone number and whilst trying to call Avis. The staff member came out and started locking up, when i explained my flight had been delayed. His response was "tough, come back tomorrow" . Leaving myself and my child stranded at a very rural airport. I then had to take two trains. One to central Glasgow and one to my final destination. To return the next day to collect the car would have meant doing the same journey in reverse with my child. I tried to call Avis to make a complaint. Only to be told that the office closed at 5PM. When i tried to call Auto Europe i was told i had to call back during the hours of 9-1 which was not possible as i was in a meeting with lawyers "
