The rental was prepaid in full using my wife's credit card, and she was present with the card and ID at pickup. Despite this, Alamo refused to accept her card for the refundable security deposit simply because I was listed as the main driver. I also had my own valid credit card stored in Google Wallet, but they refused to accept that as well -- even though tokenised contactless payments are secure and widely accepted. As a result, the only way to proceed was to add my wife as an "additional driver" purely to use her physical card -- at a cost of €51.72 plus VAT and surcharges. " The pick-up and drop-off went very smooth. The staff was really nice and they helped us choose the most suitable car for us (from the booked category). Bureaucracy was minimal. They made sure that we understand all the important information and provided a small flyer containing it (it also contained the exact GPS location for car return, which is great). The car was quite new (about 24.000 km) and clean but it had a few issues. The frontal collision alert was non-functional, the car warned us about it upon each engine start and probably because of that the wrench dash light was lit since we picked up the car. Also the infotainment had issues. At times it went off completely then restarted and made a very disturbing noise (like a bang, it was startling us each time). Also the winterization was supposedly included but the tires were all-season (acceptable but not ideal) and the washer fluid was freezing immediately once outside temperature dropped below zero (quite problematic for us). "

" I'm really disappointed with my recent experience with Alamo. This wasn't the first time we encountered issues with them. We rented a car for 9 days, and after just 2 days, a "service due" alert appeared on the dashboard. Given that we had mentioned we would be driving to Switzerland and planned on a lot of travel, it's frustrating that they didn't ensure the car was in proper condition for such a trip. Additionally, we had booked a manual transmission car, but the counter staff offered us an automatic, claiming it would be better since we would be driving a lot. We thanked the counter stuff for the offer but declined it and asked to have the car we had reserved. After agreeing, we still had to wait over 30 minutes for the car to be "cleaned" (which it clearly wasn't). Once we finally got the car, the service light came on just two days later. We contacted Alamo to inform them about the issue, and after being passed around from person to person, they told us they had no replacement car available and that we could continue driving unless we exceeded 1000 km after the light came on. It's really inconvenient to have to keep track of how many kilometers we're driving on holiday, especially when we still had 5 days left with the car. This whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. "

So I have called Alamo multiple times to get it fixed and I have to pay for engine oil top up fees approx 23 Euro. In addition to that I have to pay additional charges to top.up Ad blue fuel 5L Approx 18 Euro to the vehicle. These oil and fuel is part of vehicle maintenance and shall be covered with the provider not by customers. "

" The advertised vehicle is not at all available in the fleet of Alamo. Furthermore, we booked a premium SUV with 4 doors, and to suit 4 pieces of luggage. Alamo wanted to give us a 2 door defender where 1 suitcase only fits in as it is in the premium SUV category. Thus, we needed to take a lower class vehicle and return two days later to the airport to swap it to a proper SUV. The Alamo team was very nice and tried their best to resolve the issue. Auto Europe needs to ensure that what you advertise and what someone books is also what the rental car company is communicated. Very unpleasant and luckily we stayed in the area for two days, otherwise the entire trip would have been in jeopardy. "

The only problem is that to get a full selection of cars, we have to go out to the airport and every time we get there they never have the car I have booked. This time I had booked a full sized sedan - the example they gave was BMW 3 series. When I arrived they didn't have any of my category available and instead offered a BMW 1 series which is a compact car and no money back or a van which is the biggest thing they have. After a bit of discussion we accepted a Ford MaxS diesel which was bigger than we wanted but not too big that we couldn't park it. I get the feeling that Alamo would prefer that I book directly through them and not Auto Europe - hence the claim about not accepting the insurance and never having the correct car available when I arrive. I contacted Autoeurope 24h before the car pick up to enquire for any re-booking flexibility which was not possible at all, even against a fee. Unfortunately i have bad experience with you this time. i have made reservation with Alamo, but they refuse to accept my UAE driving license, which was fully in english. all other rent-a-cars in Frankfurt airport was ready to provide their cars with my documents, but there was no acceptable car. Finally i took the car through booking.com ( rental contract from AVIS/budget ). i didn`t argue with the right of the company ( Alamo by Enterprice) to decide which driving license they can accept, but you should refund 100% money to me with apologies. Everybody can make mistakes, but there are big difference how to fix such mistakes! "

" I used the car only within Munich city for overall 170 Km. The booked price ( 42 euros for 3 days) was very competitive and the staff was very polite. Unfortunately I did non refill the car and -to my surprise- next day i received an extra charge of 76,43 euros (for the consumed 17 litters of petrol). As you can notice bellow, your local office charged me 3,74 euros (!!!) per litter PLUS 19% VAT. Please note that in Munich city the petrol price per litter is 1,60 euros in the gas stations. Although I called your -Munich airport- office, complaining about the charge, the answer was that the price of petrol is high in the airport area... And when i complained about the extra VAT charge the answer was..".this is it..." Bellow is the invoice for the petrol charge. We also think that being charged such a hefty amount to take the car to Austria was just a way of making even more money. The high insurance bill should have been more than enough. In the end, we ended up paying almost € 300 for just the insurance and to be allowed to take the car to Austria when we had paid just over € 300 to rent the car. Even though we paid extra to take the car to Austria, we still had to pay a further 9 Euro something to get the Vignette!! Quite a rip-off! Otherwise all was ok. "

" Had a terrible experience with Alamo/Enterprise: Our Van clutch failed at Bratislava (Slovakia) on 28 June and i called Enterprise at 9am. We were leaving for Budapest then. They send a mechanic who confirmed that the car was to be towed The towing came at nearly 3pm and they kept on buying time for the replacement by saying that they were not getting a Van and would try for 2 wagons. At 4pm we decided to take 2 taxis (Euro 400) to Budapest as we had spend 7 hrs with no confirmation. My family underwent stress and my father (75, cancer patient) was really anxious. No replacement was provided for 3 days and on 1 July when we had to reach Munich, we were given a van at 12:30pm after making 40+ calls, losing 2 days, besides mental stress "

" I have had better experience with Alamo when I rented directly in US. I had to carry child seat to the car (about 100 meters) along with my luggage. The person handing over keys was more interested in selling CDW insurance than anything else. The navigator in the car gave us huge problems ended up going in wrong direction many a times. Finally we started using Google Maps to avoid detours. Also, since I was from Auto Europe, most complaints are falling in no-mans land. At Berling center, I was asked to talk to Frankfurt center to complain about Navigator (when it is the same company). Very poor customer service. "

" The car I hired was booked for four days rather than the three I thought had booked and the Alamo agent wasn't interested. The car was OK however it was kilometer limited which was probably my not reading the information correctly however I cannot remember the last time I rented a vehicle where it was kilometer limited. This was the first time I have hired a vehicle from Alamo however it was through you as an agent and the Alamo representative basically was not interested and kept saying any problems were auto europes and not theirs. I know it's my fault, but I also know you can withdraw money without using POS.
