He taped the screen to show flight number, told him we came by train. He announced that all the cars have gone, he seemed pleased with himself. He had poor eye contact, minimal greeting and greater interest in his mobile phone. A car was available, the car lot lad was not much better. I pointed out a number of dents not marked, he seemed reluctant to want to go back to the office to get his I pad and Mark up. I made the reservation with Hertz through the "Auto Europe" website with the car pickup on the 9th of July at 11:00 a.m. in Setúbal. When I arrived at the HERTZ agency shortly before 11:00 am I was informed that there was no car available for me and that I could not make an exchange or upgrade because there were no cars in the agency. The agent informed me that the car was "coming, but could not tell me how long it would be." I left my phone number for the agent to contact me when the car came. After 1 H I returned to the agency and the agent informed me that she still did not know when the car should arrive but to return within half an hour before the closing of the agency (at 12:30). I was back at 12:20 but there was no more information. The agent (who I must point out did her best to find a solution) agered to stay during lunch time to wait with me for the delivery of the car. Finally the car arrived (not mine but another car) and I ended up leaving at 13:00 H. I could have made the reservation with another company at a lower cost but I preferred to rent with Hertz because it is a company with a good reputation. I do not understand how this situation can happen with a company like Hertz that has a large rental fleet. I spent two hours with my family waiting in a cafe without a reliable information of when we would have the car. We planned to have lunch in Lisbon on the way north, but we had to have lunch at a service station on the motorway to make up for lost time and not be late for our destination. I would like HERTZ to explain to me what happened to my reservation and what Hertz will propose to compensate for the inconvenience caused. Best regards "

Online I paid extra to have the highest level of insurance, but then when I got to hertz in portugal they said they have to block over 2,000 on my credit card + if something happens I get charged then maybe i'll get my money back!!
