" I havent had any experiences as I was mislead to an information about insurance. "
" At the counter after a 10-hour flight I was told that I had to pay a 500€ insurance which was "strongly advised", otherwise I would have to pay over 2000€ in case of any damage to the car, like scratches. Well, of course I wouldn't pay about 1200 for a 30 day rental. So I had to pick up an uber to my destination and provide myself a solution somewhere else. Which BTW was a 230€ rental at discover cars. "

" I was extremely pleased with Mr. Correia who was handling my pick-up reservation at Faro airport. I had troubles with my credit card (it's chip was apparently dead) but Mr Correia showed great patience and professionalism. He tried help me activate my credit card in various creative ways and showed care for me as a customer. In the end, he allowed me to even use debit card for pick-up (even though I understood that the general company policy is to stick with credit cards) to make sure that my trip with parents isn't ruined. Overall I felt extremely glad to have such caring and professional staff at Sixt. Mr. Correia, you were hero of the day for our family! "

When we arrived at the car rental(which was drive on) they charged us with an additional 200 euro extra because we only had an full insurance with auto Europe, not with Drive On. If we would like to have a full insurance with drive on, we had to pay 200 euro extra. Drive on is not transparent. I would not recommend this car rental "

" I can recommend europcar, but pay attention to which agency you have to pick up the car. It can be complicated if you are not insured by this agency but by the company where you booked with europcar. "

I booked Supercover with autoeurope, but the lady at the Europcare told me, that I should by another supercover assurance with Europcare, that would cost me more than the rental rate. "

" 1. Sixt didn't honor the insurance issued by Auto Europe. 2. Sixt doesn't help resolve the bridge toll issue I had being on the wrong lane with the auto pay option. A missed EUR 2 becoming EUR 25 and on top of it they added the service fee EUR 35 to it. "

" During the travel the sign "engine oil and service due now" appears. I call the assistant and he said to stop somewhere and buy any oil and when I return the car I will receive my money back. I asked what exactly to buy but he said to ask on the station. That's all. What a surprise. There were only women as me.. I spent 1 hour to read what I need for this car. Then wait for someone to help me. Anyway, I bought, I put 300ml. The sign appears again. On the next day I put the rest because the oil was on its minimum. I call again, the same answer. The service oil change is needed because the car is 30000km when return the car. So thanks God everything was OK. We return the car with no damages.On the desk they were really kind but said we can't give your money back because you didn't tell our VAT number. Who told me that I have to know and to say their VAT number? Why they make it so complicated? It's not just for the money. The question is principal. When someone rent a car /and pay full insurance/ he expect that those things are checked and don't have to think when you are on holiday.. What if you don't notice or you doesn't care? I still can not connect to customer service. "

We always select the same type of vehicle which is a Mercedes C Class full sized car, and have always got excellent vehicles. This time we got a vehicle that had a lot of defects including a bonnet that would periodically loosen up and vibrate during the drive. It was not as good an experience as we had the previous times. Fine, but then the asked if we wanted a second driver and pay for it which we declined. It was not mentioned on the contract! But in the end they still charged us for it (54,00 euro). " On our arrival the counter staff charged us extra fro the insurance that originally we did't want to take, then the baby seat which was supposed to be included in the price so we ended up paying €500 more from planned. The reason was that they cannot accept debit and charge credit cards (because of some policy they can't hold the money, that was the excuse), however for the petrol they managed to hold an extra €150 - how interesting. These guys are scam, be aware, I used all these cards for renting cars around the world and never had problems. "

The wiper blades didn't clean anything, they weren't in good condition. As soon as I started the car, the low tire pressure alert came on, which indicates that they didn't take care to put the car in good condition. In view of my complaint, they offered an upgrade in the next rental, but obligatorily via the guerin.pt website and subject to availability. "

" Other than double debit to different cards which means I am over charged Euro900.00 to date, I was very happy with Thrifty and will use again if I can get around the twice charged amounts to my bank debit cards. "

On collecting the car I upgraded for a full cost of Euro1500.00 for 11 days all good. ON drop off my debit card Mauritius Euro was charged the full amount Euro1500 +- again in addition to original Euro900.00+- charge . This is unfair and now I have to proceed to my bank in Harare, to try obtain a credit from Auto Europe. This is difficult as the card is a prepaid USD card managed from USA, as Zimbabwe cannot issue USD credit or debit cards due to sanctions, Sadly this has hurt my experience after updating at collection that its not a simple reverse charge to me and now I sit Euro900.00 out of pocket unsure when I MAY arrange a reversal of my first euro debit to auto-Europe my USD prepaid debit card. "

" We received a great car and the drop-off was quick and easy. However, on arrival and at pick-up there were some problems. First, even though we called several times to adjust our time of arrival because of a delayed flight, the shuttle that was supposed to pick us up wasn't at the airport and we had a hard time contacting Drive On. Luckily for us there was a woman of an other rental company who helped us. After hours, Drive On was understaffed and it took a very long time to get our car, even though there were only three customers. On top of that we were charged an extra €30,- for picking the car up after hours, despite calling to give notice of our delay and the long time it took to get our car. With two young tired children this was quite a challenge after a long flight. It felt strange to pay extra for a bad service. However, the car itself was great and exceeded our expectations. "

" The counter staff person was very good. The staff person providing the car was very bad. He didn't come out of the office with us to set up or inspect the car or pull the car out of the parking area. It was dark and we did not notice a damage mark at the left door lock area. A scratch and indentation above the door lock. We left the office thinking everything was ok. When we found the damage we immediately emailed the office about the damage and was told they would forward the email to the receiving staff. When we returned the vehicle the receiving person did not inspect the vehicle with us and the receiving location was crammed with cars returning and was understaffed. they essentially pushed us out the door. We were billed for the door damage and the bill was written in Portugise so we could not understand what the items were specifficly and respond to them. they did not acknowledge our email about the door damage and just charged us. The car ran fine. The GPS did not function so an english speaker could list the addresses and find thee location we were looking for. "

" Rent A Star went beyond my expectations with their customer service. My transition from airport to pick up location was very easy and I was assisted by staff who were eager to help and set me up super fast. Unfortunately during the trip I had an incident which resulted in the car getting cosmetically damaged. When phoning into the company to make them aware of the incident, the representative thanked me so much for calling in as the car was due to be re-rented out when I returned it the next day, and they could then prepare accordingly at a result. The representative was so understanding and reassuring. Interestingly, on the return day, a disgruntled neighbour in the apartment complex where I parked my car had phoned Rent A Star and was demanding my information so she could contact me directly to complain about where I parked. I personally never met this neighbour, however I was informed that she was shouting and very angry with the Rent A Star representatives. I felt very respected by Rent A Star during all this because, they did not provide my details to the lady and were contacting me out of concern for my well-being, as the lady was clearly over reacting to a minor offence and they wanted me to know what had happened so I could prepare myself if I was to encounter her. I was so grateful for this concern and information. Fortunately I did not need to use the information but the attention to my well-being and multiple efforts made by the team to contact me was incredible! Upon returning my car, the team knew about the cosmetic damage incident and yet I was still reimbursed my holding fee of €195. I had taken out the top insurance, which covered all the damage! Lessons learned - take out the insurance, don't park in other people's parking spots and go with Rent A Star! Honestly this doesn't even fully represent the pleasantness and attention do the staff at Porto Airport! Everyone was so helpful and it was a pleasure to work with you! Looking forward to my next visit! "
