" Horrible. On my return, the freeway I was supposed to take was closed down by the police from Castro Marin to Faro, really delaying my time of arrival. I was forced on the slow coastal route thru every small town on the map. Needless to say, I arrived late. When I realized the situation, I tried to call Rentastar to tell them and got no response. When I reached the Faro airport, the entrance to Rentastar was so obscured, I drove by it 3 times and couldn't return easily. What a mess. When I did arrive with the car, which was full of gas and without any problems, the office was locked down tight. I had to pound on the door and call out until someone finally opened up. I was upset. Your personnel then told me I had to pay 84 euros for an extra day. I got upset again since after I told them all I had been through, they did not care. Since I was forced to pay another day, I told them I was taking the car, since I was forced to pay for it. They did not like this idea. They called their boss and handed me the phone. The "boss" proceeded to scream at me and I couldn't understand what he was saying. By this time I was fed up with this treatment, paid and left. I WANT MY MONEY BACK ASAP! This is no way to run a business and I will make sure everyone I know never rents here again. I guess these folks don't give a damn about their reputation. "

" Rent A Star went beyond my expectations with their customer service. My transition from airport to pick up location was very easy and I was assisted by staff who were eager to help and set me up super fast. Unfortunately during the trip I had an incident which resulted in the car getting cosmetically damaged. When phoning into the company to make them aware of the incident, the representative thanked me so much for calling in as the car was due to be re-rented out when I returned it the next day, and they could then prepare accordingly at a result. The representative was so understanding and reassuring. Interestingly, on the return day, a disgruntled neighbour in the apartment complex where I parked my car had phoned Rent A Star and was demanding my information so she could contact me directly to complain about where I parked. I personally never met this neighbour, however I was informed that she was shouting and very angry with the Rent A Star representatives. I felt very respected by Rent A Star during all this because, they did not provide my details to the lady and were contacting me out of concern for my well-being, as the lady was clearly over reacting to a minor offence and they wanted me to know what had happened so I could prepare myself if I was to encounter her. I was so grateful for this concern and information. Fortunately I did not need to use the information but the attention to my well-being and multiple efforts made by the team to contact me was incredible! Upon returning my car, the team knew about the cosmetic damage incident and yet I was still reimbursed my holding fee of €195. I had taken out the top insurance, which covered all the damage! Lessons learned - take out the insurance, don't park in other people's parking spots and go with Rent A Star! Honestly this doesn't even fully represent the pleasantness and attention do the staff at Porto Airport! Everyone was so helpful and it was a pleasure to work with you! Looking forward to my next visit! "

" On arrival and after signing the hire agreement, it was pointed out that the vehicle needs to be cleaned before returning or a cleaning charge would apply, 10 euros if paid in advance or 15 euros if paid on retuning the vehicle. This additional charge was not shown on the website when booking the vehicle and I feel very upset that after arriving at the car hire office I was faced with this, with no prior warning of this extra cost, when I had already paid for the vehicle hire. After an argument with the staff and manager they waved this cost, I had hired the vehicle for only two days and would not have had time to clean it. I used Rentastar as the cost was low and an extra hidden cost of 10 to 15 euros presented on collecting the vehicle is very unprofessional. I have, so far, never come across another car hire firm that charges extra to clean the hire car unless it is in an unreasonable state. These extra charges should be shown on your website so that people can make an informed decision whether or not to use this hire company. "
