" Auto Europe is a great solution to compare prices and save time when renting a car. "
" Pick-up experience was terrible: Guerin has introduced automated tokens for handling the pick-up process, though it was not clear to me whether I should use them or present myself to the counter. Plus, the Guerin station was rather crowdy and chaotic given the current pandemic situation. While using the token, you have to present A LOT of information that already has been provided while in a crowd and noisy place that makes the experience quite stressful. At the end of the process, Guerin presents the user if several options for choosing the "amount left to be paid" to pick up the car. In my opinion, this is just a dark pattern used to trick customer into paying for something that it is not necessary (really bad practice). A Guerin employee saw my confusion and offered to help me at the counter. I told this employee that I had paid the "Refundable Excess with Super Cover" rate to avoid blocking an excessive amount in my credit card and that I was not understanding why I had to pay more at this point. She offered me a "deal" so that Guerin would block only the original 300€ in my credit card as stated in the Auto Europe voucher. This "deal" consisted in paying an excess of 160€ to finish the pick-up process. I ended up paying this. Upon the drop-off, I was talking to another Guerin employee to understand what I could do regarding the excess amount paid. This employee then explained to me that this amount that I have paid was actually optional and was only to reduce the amount I would have to pay in case of an accident, basically an insurance. In other words, during pick-up I was made to believe that I had to paid the extra 160€, otherwise, they would block the full 1,970€ amount in my credit card, when in fact this was actually optional. Obviously, at the drop-off the staff told me that it was not possible to reimburse me with the 160€ anymore. Additionally, I also sent an email to Guerin asking for explanation on the additional amount paid shortly after picking up the car but they never replied to me. I fell cheated and for sure will avoid at all costs using or recommending Guerin again. What is worst is that my other experience with them went well, but this time was so terrible (and unnecessarily expensive) for me that I gave up on them. "

On 12/21/93 at the time I picked up the car i Lisbon, I paid $462.93 USD to Guerin. On 01/03/2020 when I returned the car, I paid an additional $375.23 USD to Guerin. I currently do not question the total amount I paid. I have communicated with Guerin requesting an itemized accounting to allow me to know what I paid for and to validate those charges. To date 'Guerin has not replied to that request. A reply to my request would probably improve my feedback and allow me piece of mind that the amounts I payed were in fact as they should be. In 2017 we rented a similar car through you at Orly Airport for nine days while visiting northern France. On the date of our reservation we paid $210.62 USD and rented a GPS as the only addition on the rental and the actual charges for that rental had almost no variance from the amount we originally paid at the inception of the rental. We had an issue with our US credit card company denying the charges (despite having notified them in advance of our travel abroad) causing a delay. She wasn't happy about that despite there being no one else in line at the time. Overall she was not courteous, was not helpful and also pushed extra insurance on us or basically was not going to allow us to rent with only 1 US credit card (I had 2 others, one a debit and one Am Ex that she said they could not take), and could not or would not explain why this was needed. I feel like I got railroaded into paying for insurance I did not want but otherwise she was not going to allow us to rent. The car itself and the pickup and drop-off were perfect, but the counter experience was horrendous and I will go out of my way to never use Guerin again and will definitely tell my traveling friends about this experience with Guerin AND Auto Europe.
