" I had a very disappointing experience with Europecar Portugal. I am a frequent traveler and I happen to rent car quite often which I do through AutoEurope and I generally pick the offer from know companies, Europecar is one of them. In spite of the higher process compared to some other companies, I chose the option from Europecar since I wanted to have a reliable option with no headaches, but the way they treat customers and try to make money by hideous ways is very unfortunate. In order to make 100 Euros more, would it worth to lose the trust of your customer, really is that the work ethic the customer representatives are taught???? I had arrive to Lisbon after a very exhaustive week and a long flight. I had rented the car quite a while ago online. I remembered the insurance option when I was renting did not have the full coverage, so I asked the details of the insurance coverage and I was offered a premium coverage which required me to pay nothing of excess and I was asked also if I wanted the toll service and then I was told the total amount including a different city drop off charges. I did not do a detailed calculation relying on the honesty of the customer service reps that he would calculate the insurance+toll+ one way fee and I then signed all the papers. When I returned I receive my receipt where I saw 98 Euros for an emergency assistance abroad, so I called the call center to ask what it was where I neither mentioned I would travel outside of Portugal nor asked if I require such services. So when the customer service rep gave me the full coverage he kindly added this fee. The call center rep said he would investigate and come back and then I received a response that I signed the papers that included this charge. Again I was not told why this was added at all to the bill which I had signed. Is this a way of taking advantage of travelers who are coming exhausted and want to make it to their final destination and see what they can get away with. I am really shocked with the work ethics and customer orientation of a company which have a good reputation. I shared them my disappointment once more and asked them to rectify the situation and waiting how they would be responding. If has been now 3 weeks and no response so fat "

So the SOS line from Europcar lied to me. When I reached the Europcar 40km away from my destination, it was refused an upgrade as a compensation. "

I kept going until the diesel was SPLURGING OUT OF THE CAR! I took a car for proof. Still, it did not indicate full. I dropped the car off, with receipts and the gas bills. Now I GET BILLED BY YOU! Not a letter, nothing, you just take money from my credit card. I cannot help but think of you as thieves, messing with the gas indicators to steal people's money. I want my money back and you should be ashamed, very ashamed. Never again europcar, even though the car was great and the rest was fine. But this was very disappointing, and I knew this was going to happen. Your people were not helpful when I explained. Just shame on you. "

In the drop off car park, I was directed to the wrong direction and when I realized they wanted me to leave the parking and start the queue from scratch. So, we headed over to Enterprise and got a car right away. A week, yes, a week later, I get an email telling me that we needed to send in the passport and card info of the main driver. One week later. A little late. We'd already been driving the other rental for a week. I understand that everything needs to be double checked for fraud, but really?
