" I have rented cars with Auto Europe several times and have always been pleased, but as for all businesses, a true and meaningful comment can only be made when things go wrong, which I do not hope for, though. "
" The counter staff was understocked. There were only 2 employees, whereas there were multiple employees at Avis and a rival company. The booking system of budget at San Francisco Airport is outdated (they still have the blue screen) and although the personell is very friendly (a group of four young women who clearly could not book a car with you took up 20 minutes of the time of the second employee!!). Waiting for almost two hours after a 12-hour flight is simply outrageous! "

" The car was very low on oil. The oil light was on. No help from the company number or the roadside assistance. The office where we picked up the car said we could drive an-hour back to the airport and they could check it, but they did not have extra cars. Finally, I checked the oil, almost none, and researched the special type of oil a VW Jetta uses. Then I bought a quart of the special synthetic oil and put it in the car. No problems then. Small thing, but I was paying 1500 for a car with no oil. This has never happened before. "

" AutoEurope rental process is clear, exposes all options. Of particular importance to me as European renting/driving in USA, is that insurance options are clearly stated and all benefits are stated in the rental contract. "

My concern is about the very, very poor customer service at pick-up: 45+minutes wait; employee serving me berated me on my use of voucher-companies (taking all profits from Budget, complained about unfair pricing for Americans vs. Tourists), challenged the terms of the voucher (one free fuel tank), tried to oversell me on insurance (asked same question 4x even when I responded NO first time round), asked me for my personal details whilst they are clearly stated on the voucher, I needed to ask for restitution of my voucher, then keep me waiting further 15 minutes out of line. Very unprofessional and very unfriendly. "

" Insurance is always an issue. Our plan was a typical reliability and colloision waiver. At the counter we were met with a "hard sale" on additional Insurance related to flat tires and similar road side incidents. We bought it, but felt fooled. When arriving at the rental place after travelling for 20 hours it is hard to make rational decissions. "
