" Once i got the car we realised it had a lot of hail damage on the roof and other panels which were nit yet included on the damage report...another 30minutes wasted time. Once ready we departed only to find the windscreen washers not working...i topped up the water tank and ok....these details arent part of a checklist before handing over cars?? Car was returned...just a 1minute key drop. "

" If you have been driving older cars and get a new one with all this fancy electronic and you just get on as allways ( old days) some people may get panic when directly on the highway. So it needs to be mentioned, as not everyone is used to this yet "

" There is absolutely on information on the content off insurances. As I had a flat tire, I called the assistance and then went back to the Alamo agency. The people had only one thing in mind and that was the tire. They did not listen or trust a word of what I told them has happened and were then just making sure I would pay for the tire (just mentioning: a horrendous amount) No sign of empathy that their cars actually have tires that just are too old to survive very gentle driving. I. also got another invoice making me pay for the assistance (another horrendous amount). Roadside assistance is, for what I know the basic of all services and not a damage to the car itself and should without saying be included. I have my own assistance and would have called them would I have had the information that Alamo charges for that. I have worked in technical/roadside assistance for years and have to say this is the worst car rental (and conditions) I have ever seen. "

" I booked an automatic car and got a manual one. No financial compensation for this change even if automatic cars are always more expensive. So I payed more for less. During my trip in the Lausanne area a tire went flat. I called the service and the proposed solution was: try to bring the car to Geneva where we could exchange it (Lausanne-Geneva 60km with a flat tire???). So I organized an intervention from the TCS and they could fixe it temporarily (costs 250.- CHF). When I brought the car back they told me I have to pay the tire (ok why not) and it will costs about 350.- CHF (are you kidding???) So this stupid tire costs me around 600CHF (??????). What the hell? Never ever ever again am I renting a car. "

" There has been a problem at dropp off. Alamo is charging me 1000$ for a scratch that was very likely there at hand off. It is less than 1mm, unnoticeable depth and on a glossy panel, so depending on the light you can barely see it. There is a high chance it was there when I got the car and I did not notice it and the inspection agent either. Based on comments online it seems like a common practice at this agency so it is to be avoided. "

This is RIDICULOUS (I can accept 1-3 months) as it would mean that the renter would have to ask for a credit card to be SPECIALLY ISSUED JUST FOR THE PURPOSE OF RENTING A CAR!!! This of course incurs costs. Alamo claim that it is in the contract Terms & Conditions. Unless it is in AutoEurope's and I missed it, this is a punitive rule. I check with other supplier, they dont mind about my indonesian driving licence because my indonesian driving licence has roman alphabets. I give them a google search also wikipedia that my driving licence should be fine and also told them that the other company can give us the car. The staff just said that this is their company policy.. After long argue finally we just go without the car.. And i called an autoeurope 24hr customer service like a 20 times but nobody pick up the phone.. just a voice note said that the office is not open yet.. its very frustating.. Finally somebody pick up my call and said that i need an international driving licence so i cant get the car.. but the other company is fine with my licence. We went to an iceland, usa. They just fine with my indonesian driving licence. So we just left without the car... it was a very bad and frustating experience "

" I rent exclusively with Alamo on a regular basis when travelling. This is the first time I have had extremely bad customer service where the assistant was refusing to give us a car due to a slight delay in my flight. This has happened a few times in the past and staff were more than accomodating. In this case the assistant was very rude, unhelpful and made my girlfriend and I feel uncomfortable when we were trying to find a solution. The member of staff made claims that we were unable to get a car due to being late and that we should know this, even though it is not explicitly set out when I paid for the car. They also tried to charge us for free GPS and argued this point when we noted the GPS was free. This in turn left us even later for a function we were scheduled to attend. Luckily, another helpful member of staff was able to intervene and get us a car but this experience will definitely make me reconsider where I rent from going forward. "

I had to just go and ask several other companies if they will take my credit card and when I found one, Auto Europe staff said that they don't see any availability with this company (Sixt). So I just had to make another reservation through Sixt website at the rip off last minute price. I was promised refund less administrative charge by Auto Europe agent, however that didn't happen yet, though almost a week has passed since the incident. "
