    Renting a car during the coronavirus crisis

    As with most other enterprises in the international tourism industry, Auto Europe is also being quite badly affected by the Covid-19 crisis. Naturally, we’re remaining positive and carrying on with the expectation that everything will return to normal eventually. As part of our contingency plans, both our Munich and Lisbon office space has been cleared of staff and we have instigated a work-from-home policy for all our staff. This allows for our business operations to continue normally whilst safeguarding the security of our employees.

    We are fully aware that the quality of our service doesn’t only depend on the exceptionally low prices we offer but also on the high level of service provided by our employees. In light of this, and despite the difficult economic conditions we are going through, we have taken the decision to maintain our entire staff on reduced hours and with flexible timetables.

    How does this affect you as a customer?

    Our reservations team remains available from Monday to Sunday in order to assist you with your car hire bookings, both new ones and those that already exist. If your car rental period has already finished and you need to put in a claim or make a complaint, then our customer service agents are on hand to help you through the process. Anyone wishing to hire a car during these difficult times can still do so in the usual method, either on our website or by calling our staff on +49 89 412 07 269.

    Are your holiday plans currently on hold? - What is the fee for cancelling or changing a car hire booking?

    Despite the current situation, we are sure that things will soon get better. In fact, we're convinced that we will become stronger than ever with a deeper appreciation and understanding of what a holiday means to us. Having this extra free time on our hands at the moment is the best time to start planning an exciting trip. Besides offering the cheapest rates in the market, booking your car hire with Auto Europe means you'll have greater flexibility with no cancellation fee payable up to 48 hours before pick-up. Please note that any existing bookings may be modified absolutely free of charge, but please bear in mind that the changes you make will be subject to a new rate and availability for the same period and destination.

    Any changes to your reservation, along with the cancellation of an existing one, can be done by calling our reservation agents, as previously mentioned. Customers also have the possibility of making these modifications themselves directly on the Auto Europe website in just a few easy clicks.. Manage your booking easily on the Auto Europe homepageAll you need to do is click the Manage My Booking button in the top right-hand corner of our website and enter the name of the person whose name is on the booking along with their voucher number.

    Will renting a vehicle become more expensive after the coronavirus crisis?

    Prices are expected to generally rise across the travel and tourism sectors once the current restrictions have been lifted and countries’ borders start to reopen. This means that if you’re planning to go somewhere in the next few months or next year, it’s best to book your car hire now to save as much cash as possible on your next trip.

    Need a car hire during the coronavirus crisis? - Our clients' health and safety is of paramount importance

    Naturally, now is certainly not the best time to be using public transport, but if you still need to travel whether to work or for any other reason and don’t have the use of a car, then please be aware that all our car hire suppliers are employing a strict hygiene policy on every single vehicle in their fleet. We are in regular contact with all our trusted partners and they ensure us that they are disinfecting all their vehicles in order to safeguard people’s health and safety.
