" Auto Europe was easy to book and the prices seemed reasonable. I did not have to use the extra insurance which I also bought with the rental. "

" My rental car, a Kia Rio with 62k km on the meter broke down with a battery issue when stopping at a traffic light. Most likely it was caused by a malfunctioning stop-start system. After contacting the Sixt helpline a Sixt representative arrived in about 20 minutes, helped to remove the car from traffic and arranged a replacement. In total it took about 1hr 15 minutes and I felt it was handled properly, granted, during working hours around 4pm and in a big city. However I was on the way to an important meeting and missed a unique opportunity due to the car breaking down unexpectedly and leaving me stranded. I feel that shouldn't happen to such a new car and Sixt should make sure the cars they rent out are reliable. So in summary 1 star for the crappy car which left me hopelessly late and furious, and 5 stars for the quick and efficient emergency response which I really appreciated. On returning the replacement car everything went smoothly and I received the 500 euro deposit back within 3 working days without issue. "

I am slightly amused that , as two over 70 year olds, my husband and I had to pay a large premium , which we have yet to get back, as I would imagine that we are far more careful than some of the younger drivers we saw in hired cars passing us on the motorway. " The member of staff that was at the desk could make the effort to be more polite and discreet with customers and not resort to sarcasm when the attempt to offer an upgrade from class C was rejected. I have come across the same individual twice at the sixt desk where you sign the contract and was pushy for an upgrade. When I said that I pointed out that a class C vehicle (medium sized) ought to meet our requirements and we shouldn't have to upgrade she turned rude. Also, to our surprise we were told that we had to pay for petrol in advance and return the petrol tank empty. "

Also they are blocking not only 600 eur but also 100 eur in case car is not returned with a full tank, so in total it was blocked 700EUR in my account not 600EUR as it was promised. "

" Too expensive The option of pick full and return empty is not right. I returned the car almost half full. Why lose my payment for that? It is just another hidden charge. Also if your rental goes into another day for 1hour you are charged for a whole day. "

" Sixt office at Nicossia was closed and there is a telephone number stick to the window glass required me to call the officer. My telephone unfortunately nor worked in Cyprus. Imagine on Sunday, middle of nowhere, don't know anybody, no one to help us. Waited half an hour and asked one of the stranger to help us to call the number on the window. He called and sixt staff was at home and said coming in half an hour. This is unacceptable. Whan I booked the car through the internet, info given was office open on sundays until 12.00 and that was wrong, misguide and unacceptable. I have been renting through sixt for the last 4-5 years many times and this is the only time I was dissappointed from the service, unusual practise and mislead.Thnx "

" Found your French spea but he wasn't that helpful ... as it was it was needless stress as the car had A?C a real necissity in 40C+ heat. king help person difficult to communicate with. On your site you specify non A/C car. I didn't think they now exist in Cyprus and I was right but your contract said it did. I tried to cancel the car and re book but he was obtuse saying as it was withing the 48 I wouldn't get my money back. I told him that i had just booked it e.t.c I have complained and received no reply. "
