I have booked a rental car through Auto Europe. Where can I find the car rental desk at the pick-up location?
Auto Europe is not a car rental company, but an intermediary. We do not have our own cars, but work with different suppliers to provide you with a suitable car. That is why Auto Europe has no on-site rental desks! In other words, we cooperate with a variety of international and local companies to offer you the cheapest vehicle anywhere in the world. For this reason, when picking up the booked car, you should not look for the Auto Europe counter, but for the local rent a car company indicated on your voucher.
How old do you have to be in order to rent a car?
To rent a car, in most countries you will be required to be at least 21 years old (the exact age may vary by car category). Please note that any driver younger than 25 may incur a young driver fee in addition to the daily car rental rate. This will be noted on your voucher.
Do I need a credit card to rent a car?
Yes, even if you pay for your booking with another bank card on our webpage, e.g. a debit card. The main driver, who is the person whose name you specify when booking, must present a valid credit card in their own name with sufficient coverage for the deposit on site. Prepaid credit cards and debit cards are not accepted, and a cash deposit is also not accepted.
What exactly is the deposit?
The local rent a car company requires a security deposit for the vehicle, which is blocked on the main driver's credit card when the vehicle is picked up locally. The deposit is required by the company as a guarantee for the vehicle in case of damage or theft during the rental.
What does excess reimbursement mean?
The reimbursement of the excess is Auto Europe's service, which, in case of damage, allows our customers, to reclaim the excess paid to the car rental company directly from Auto Europe. The customer pays the damage directly to the company in question (supplier) up to the amount of the excess, after which the customer can submit an application for reimbursement of the costs to Auto Europe. This service is called excess reimbursement and is only valid for damage to the cars bodywork.
Since not all parts of the vehicle are protected by the excess service package, Auto Europe also offers the Super Cover package for these additional parts. The additional package protects among other things tyres, glass, roof etc. The procedure is similar to that for the reimbursement of the excess: When picking up the vehicle, the main driver leaves a deposit with his credit card. In the event of damage to the vehicle or theft, the customer pays the repair costs to the car supplier. Thereafter, the renter may submit a reimbursement application for these costs to Auto Europe. What documents do I need at the time of collection?
To pick up a rental car, you must present the printed Auto Europe voucher along with your driving licence, passport or identity card, and a valid credit card to the rent a car company. Some companies will require utility bills as proof of address (check the small print in the voucher). Debit cards or pre-paid credit cards are not accepted.
