" I am not completely satisfied with Hertz Durban. The cause is : one week after the beginning of the rental they send me a mail saying that the car we have was a "DEFLEET". In clear that mean that the car was sold to a dealer and that they had to replace our vehicule. As we where in a remote place the contact with Hertz was not easy and not very pleasant. " Auto Europe has always held to their word even when I had an excess claim. All went off well. Great customer service always from AutoEurope. "
" There was an issue with the vehicle, which was changed to another with temporay number plates. I had to take in back myself the day before the temporay plates expired. Then I was given another vehicle the only one they had as upgrade and was told to return it 2 days later after Christmas. I called a manger at Hertz and he sorted the problem out immediately by having another car delivered to me. "

" I emailed auto Europe 2 or 3 times asking for help. Each time same response that I needed to contact hertz, they could not help. Auto Europe should take some responsibility for the car hire firms they recommend. I could not use the car for he majority of the periods d it could have been a serious security risk "
" Hertz have me a car with worn out brake pads in the back right wheel. At slow speeds and breaking there was a terrible sound. As we drive direct to Nelspruit we were unaware until we arrived as it is a motorway all the way. I thought maybe it was a stone in the brake so washed the wheel with pressure hose. The noise reduced so we continue to Maputo where the noise came back. I am not a mechanic and was afraid the car would breakdown on open round either in Mozambique or on the return to Jobourg and that this would be a secure risk. I called hertz. They said couldn't help me in Mozambique but would call me back. They did not call me back. I called again the next day and wa told he only way would be to drive to the border and meet me there. At my request an email was sent to Hertz nelspruit asking to contact me, I was in copy. I couldn't use the car in Maputo for fear of breakdown. 5 days later I had heard nothing from Hertz and had to start my return journey. Slough being nervous all the way we made it back to jobourg airport. I don't understand how they can give a car with faulty brakes. I paid twice the normal amount to be able to take in Mozambique but they could not help me ther when I had a problem. "

" As I mentioned above in the comments for Hertz, I was very dissappointed with the fact that I didn't got the car at the first time I ase´ked for it, because You have cancelled my reservation. They show it on theisr monitor, and there stood CANCELLED: even if the payment was taken from my creditcard. When I came back in the evening the Hertz-guy arranged so I got the car. This was a bad experience. I will have a refund for the Border charge (1600 ZAR) and for the problems when you had cancelled my reservation!!!!! Best regards Erkki Hurtig "
" When I come to the office for bringing my car, they didn't find the reservation. So we took a Taxi to the hotel. I went back to the airport later in the evening for a new look for the reservation. Now they found it, but it was cancelled from tour side, even if you had take out my payment!!!! Then the Hertz person arranged so we got the car! Good work from his side. When I told We are going to visit Swaziland, he took out an extra charge of 1600 ZAR !!! Why, when i ordered for the car by you, I informed on your question that we are visiting Swaziland. " Sneaky pricing on the one way fee (advertised excluding VAT so hit with an unexpected cost on pick up), and troubles with the "full tank" concept at drop off even though we had JUST fulled it but the check in guy insisted we hadn't fulled it. Also, that car... terrible!! Too many warning lights and safety options in the car, every time we changed lane a new warning would go off, horribly over-complicated. "

" Friendly on the desk. I booked full/full but they said that the rulles were changed. I had to pay in advance about 1700Rand ( not on hold ). Bad service with a tyre problem. ( I had an insurance for tyres). I had to do everything by myself. They told me that they should pay the new tyre. Wait and see. The car was also smaller. Normally it was a chevrolet cruz are simular but was a chevrolet senic (lower type) "
