" Never had any problems with Hertz all over Europe, but had a horrible experience with Hertz at Schiphol airport. We were given a smaller car than what we originally booked and made to pay for a downgrade. Simply unbelievable. Originally reserved a Toyota Corolla Estate (with a boot capacity of 590 litres) as luggage space was very important for us. On collection we were informed that no estates whatsoever were available and instead we were given a Jeep Renegade with a 330 litres boot space, almost half what we had hoped for. This of course did not fit us and we were then offered a Lynk&Co 1 vehicle with a boot space of 466 litres. Although this was still 25% smaller than the estate we had reserved, we still managed to squeeze in. To add insult to injury we were advised that we shall pay an upgrade fee of €100 (for 5 days), and miraculously after the car was returned we ended up receiving an even higher bill of €152. Speechless!! "

We left and tried to ensure we could make it work, but failed. Returned to agent, a different agent came out to help and determined our car didn't have GPS (which we had ordered), that's why it didn't work. Offered to take off the GPS charge, which we declined. Hunted for vehicle with GPS, offered us a minivan, which we declined. He then found an Aygo with GPS, helped us set it up, and we were finally on our way after losing over 2 hours. They did waive the extra driver fee to offset our inconvenience. The car was great, wish they'd given that to us first. "

It took us on every small road, through small villages - no matter what settings we put it on! We saw a lot of beautiful and quaint places, but had to miss some of our planned destinations because it took twice as long to get there! One person told us it is set up that way because the freeways are so busy and they are trying to keep excess traffic off of them. Had to use google maps on our phones, but didn't always have service so had to rely on the car's navigation system. Other than that we had a great little car to drive! "

Our request to pick a car of our category at a different location of Hertz was also not entertained. Finally after to and fro between Hertz and auto europe customer car. We were offered another car with an extra cost. Not happy with the whole process but appreciate Hertz atleast giving us another car as an option. But equally mad at Hertz to offer random category car and argue over the booked one stating the lame reason as "we only have this car available right now" "
