Where to pick up a car rental at Venice Airport

The designated area for car rental services, known as Rent-a-car, is clearly marked. It can be found on the third floor of parking structure P1. How to get to and from Venice airport

When renting a car at Venice Airport, it is crucial to keep in mind that while the city itself is car-free, there are buses, trams, and taxis available in the central area, near St. Mark’s Square and the renowned Rialto Bridge. You can access the airport directly by car, bus, or taxi. Although the train service does not connect directly to the airport, there are links to the bus network. From the Venice Santa Lucia Train Station, you can board line number 5 or the shuttle to reach the airport in approximately 35 minutes. If you are departing from the Venice Mestre Train Station, you will need to take line 15 or another shuttle, which will transport you to the airport in about 20 to 25 minutes. Additionally, it is worth noting that you can also collect your rental car at either the Santa Lucia station in Venice or at the Venice Mestre station. The ACTV buses operate between Venice airport and Piazzale Roma, with departures every 15 minutes.

There are more options available to travel to Venice from the airport: two reliable bus services connecting Venice Airport to Piazzale Roma, located in the heart of Venice. This includes the Aerobus service, which runs multiple times throughout the day, as well as the Venice Airport express bus that departs from outside the arrivals hall approximately every 30 minutes. Alternatively, you may opt for the Alilaguna River Shuttle, which leaves from the Darsena Docks terminal, just a short walk from the arrivals area. Although this service takes significantly longer to reach the Madonna dell'Orto and San Marco districts of Venice, the scenic views along the way are truly remarkable!

Parking Tips

If you have arranged a car rental at Venice Airport, please note that the Marco Polo Park parking facility provides a variety of parking options in proximity to the airport terminal. This allows you to select the most economical, quickest, or most convenient parking solution based on your travel requirements. All parking areas are situated close to the terminal, enabling you to park for a few hours or several days in designated lots. Additionally, long-term parking is offered near the terminal at competitive daily rates, with shuttle services available to and from the main terminal. Moreover, there is a designated area near the terminal where you can park free of charge while picking up or dropping off passengers directly at the main entrance.

In Venice, parking is restricted to a limited area of the city. You may utilize the spaces surrounding Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, which are located at the city's entrance. At Piazzale Roma, car parks are available with daily rates between €25 and €32. The two most significant car parks are Autorimessa Comunale and San Marco. Additionally, you have the option to park your low cost car hire in Mestre, a locality within the municipality of Venice, specifically in the industrial area of Marghera, at San Giuliano Park, or in the Tronchetto area at Venice's entrance. A practical solution is to book a hotel outside of Venice that offers parking, ensuring a peaceful stay. From any of these parking facilities, you can take a bus, train, or walk to the city center depending on the distance.
