" My rental car, a Kia Rio with 62k km on the meter broke down with a battery issue when stopping at a traffic light. Most likely it was caused by a malfunctioning stop-start system. After contacting the Sixt helpline a Sixt representative arrived in about 20 minutes, helped to remove the car from traffic and arranged a replacement. In total it took about 1hr 15 minutes and I felt it was handled properly, granted, during working hours around 4pm and in a big city. However I was on the way to an important meeting and missed a unique opportunity due to the car breaking down unexpectedly and leaving me stranded. I feel that shouldn't happen to such a new car and Sixt should make sure the cars they rent out are reliable. So in summary 1 star for the crappy car which left me hopelessly late and furious, and 5 stars for the quick and efficient emergency response which I really appreciated. On returning the replacement car everything went smoothly and I received the 500 euro deposit back within 3 working days without issue. "

In order to get a reliable car I had to add Euro 38.08 as an upgrade to your booked car ! Then only I got A relatively Kia Stonic car, same class as hired with you. Calling my bank, they told me that it was not possible to raise the limit. Hence, I asked the people at Sixt whether the rest of the amount (only 200 euro) could be reserved on my friends credit card. They informed me that this was not possible, because this could be problematic in case of damage (they might not be able to get the full excess amount). I also proposed to pay the 200 euros in cash, which they could simply reimburse to my credit card at the end of the rental period. This would pose no risk to Sixt, but still this was not possible. Zero flexibility! They could only offer to sell me additional insurance so that the excess would be lower. I felt the situation was being abused to sell me extra services that I did not need nor want. The extra insurance increased the cost of the rental by about 50%, so this is not insignificant! I was confident that Auto Europe would be able to help me with this situation. Not only was the person I got on the line unhelpful, she was also rude and condescending. This will be the last car rental I book through Auto Europe. "

" On Saturday 4/6 we picked up a car from the Sixt booth at the LCA airport. Our reservation number was A42-170661, and 842170661 made through AutoEurope. This booth was the appointed service desk for the company I booked the car, which was GetYourCar company. Long queue and delays: Unfortunately, we discovered that the waiting time was almost one hour to be serviced, because there were only two people at the desks, and many people in this booth. Had I known that it takes so long to take a car from your agents, I would have booked from another company and pay some extra money. Exorbitant amounts to bind on the card: At the desk, the agent asked that the company has to place a hold on my credit card for 900(!) euros, just in case of accidents etc. I understand that this was said in the agreement of the car, but that was not explained clearly when I did the booking. Therefore, a renter that books a car with GetYourCar and does not have a credit card with at least 900 euros extra to spare, is hopelessly left in the company's mercy on what to do at payment / desk moment. As the employee explained to me, this was for not taking the full insurance, and for incidentals I would have to pay that can go up to this cost. Hidden extras and over the top charges: My credit card company rejected the charge try, and I was left hanging with two options: Either to pay full insurance of the vehicle for 128 euros extra, and be allowed to pay with my debit card the hold of 900 euros, or leave the desk after an hour of waiting and with no car. Also, the agent said we could not change the name of the reservation to my girlfriend that could try her credit card. Also, the agent said he could apply a small discount by removing some charges, and charge me only 104 for the insurance. Question: if i was going to pay extra for full insurance, why did I have to have an extra 900 euros reserved on my card?? This was not answered by the employee who said talked to the company instead. Given the late hour and delays all through, i asked the agent to charge me the insurance he said and proceed. Unfortunately, the agent lied to me, since he ended up changing me 187.54 euros. This was unexpected but could not do anything about it since i had committed and signed the documents and had to leave. Non full gas tank: Then, I picked up the car and right after exiting the airport, I realized the tank was not even full, but instead about 6-7/8. However, I was forced to pay a full tank, and do the policy full to empty. I find this policy mischievous and just there to steal money from people. How does the rental company expect the renter to return the car empty? Do they realize how inconvenient this is, besides that the renter by construction will lose whatever money of gas is left in the tank, above empty? Mind you that when I returned the car, I had 1/4 of tank left, that of course I would not be compensated for. Quality of car: The car I received was of less quality than expected, and definitely not after the treatment i received at the desk. The car was already second hand, meaning it was already used for many years before me. The rubber around the doors was old and sticky to the touch and left black marks to anything that touched. Two of my guests that were in my car got a trousers and a shirt destroyed because the rubber came off on those and cannot be removed with regular means. We had to pay special laundry cleaning service to remove it costing 30 euros a piece. Extension of rental agreement: I ended up keeping the car for another day, for which i phoned the company about and verbally agreed to the extra charge (23 euros). Mind you that the rental agreement was returned to me over email by listing 200+ euros as an overall cost. I understand that this is for the total of the rental, but at the moment of receival this was not stated. Proposal: you should clearly explain to the renter the charges they will receive, etc. Summary: All in all, i found the experience with Sixt and its sister/subsidiery company GetYourCar to be below par and the quality I expecting from a company like Sixt. It was based on pushing the renter into inconveniently signing, after long waiting times, no options or alternatives unless they could cost the renter extra money and no facilitation whatsoever. Also, the agent was disingenuously saying they would charge me only 104, but ended up charging me 188 euros, and not really explaining why or details about it. Finally, the car was not full, though I paid for a full gas tank. And the car was below par of quality and expectation. "

According to what was promised, and to the contractual agreement, we should have been "instantly" refunded (attachment #3). We have had no accident with anyone at any date, this is factual, so we denied all of this. We do pretend that we returned the car in the exact same condition as we got it 7 days before. Mr XX pretended he spotted some difference on the right lower sill when comparing to his unclear & very dark picture dating back to Nov. (attachment #5). As you can see from a picture taken the day of the return (attachment #6), no difference on the right lower sill is noticeable. Plus the Ford Focus we had will soon be 5 years old, very far from being brand new or bump & dent-free ! Since then though, €380 from pre-authorization have been withdrawn from our account, we absolutely disagree with that. The look of the cabin was rather sad and the outside of the car was also scratched from all sides. Already on the first day of driving, I realized that the gearbox shift works very badly, especially in reverse. After a week of operating the car, I entered the petrol station in Larnaca to fill up the tank. The gearshift stuck in one position and the car could no longer be operated. Tried several times to call the Paphos office, but failed. Then suddenly I saw that the company also has an office in Larnaca, which I immediately called. " I have been using Auto Europe since 2009 and been telling my friends as well to use it. I have extended the booking with Paphos Airport Rental (provided by Europcar) through the phone support of Auto Europe. The manager found a car for me and DIDN'T tell me there's no air conditioning in the car, the difference between the with a/c and without a/c was 1.5 EUR! Logically Europcar did everything to give me the worst & oldest possible car in order to ask me to upsell for a different car for 200 EUR. When I called the Auto Europe representative Martha, she told me they can renew the voucher (i will have to wait for 2 hours) for the SAME class with the a/c. 2 hours of waiting time and Auto Europe will 'forgive' me 1.5 EUR difference. They didn't even propose me an upgrade of the class of the car. After 11 years with Auto Europe this is the worst experience ever. I have been given a car with 130k km mileage, hardly working and all thanks to the manager from Auto Europe who didn't pay attention to one detail. I am going to switch from Auto Europe after 11 years. "

Please think about this matter: if your customer despises Sixt (or Herz or Bedget, etc), how could you satisfy their wish to ensure they won't have to deal with bad providers? Your website does not provide any option "avoid X, Y, X" unfortunately and even then, alternative names would defeat this mechanic. So, despite of not feeling bad about AutoEurope, I unlikely would recommend you because people must be more confident about knowing which provider they engage with. "
" This provider just happened to be Sixt! The company I always tend to avoid after number of unpleasant experiences with them. Perhaps, that's the reason they operate under alternative name. So, my poor expectations was confirmed this time again. The company exercised a hidden charge of 20+VAT at the counter without explaining clearly what's that (leveraging my inability to deal with details on-the-legs after long arrival) until I enquired customer service later on. They cited it as "COVID disinfection charge", something which NO any other company did in my next two consecutive car rents within same month (I'm at extended stay there). Their pricing only _looked_ like the best value but the hidden charge would instantly place them beyond the top-3 choices, hence I'd never decide to rent from them even if not knowing about poor service level of Sixt. Drop-off was seamless but I must say, the same was during my last experience with Sixt when problems arrived only 2 weeks later (I had to dispute their charge for car's issue which I never made and which apparently happened after drop-off). I still don't have trust same story won't repeat, so watching carefully for possible emails from them. Sixt is perhaps the worst car provider and normally I'd wish to avoid it at all costs. Using alternative names helps them to scam people like me who actively look for stepping into them. "

" Whern i initially picked up the car I was told that I had not booked a car with air conditioning. Then I changed the contract to include that item. When I said that I had rented the car for 5 days instead of 4 the woman was charging me for she said in an offhanded way we deal in 24 hour periods. I was tired after my trip from Athens and did not challenge her. in the second day of my rental I had a car accident with a Cypriot driver in Kalopanagiotis in Cyprus. After the accident I managed to speak to someone at the SIXT office. They asked me if the car was driver able. I said I thought it was. I drove back to Nicosia and then went to the SIXT office but found the building abandoned. I had rented a car two years ago. When i got to where I was staying I rang SIXT and they said that I had to return the car to Larnaca airport where I picked up from. On rechecking the car I asked a policeman if it was OK to drive and he said no as the indicator light did not work. So I arranged to drop it of at the new office in Nicosia. The woman who served me there was exceptional. Howver i have still not received a report from SIXT about the accident. I offered two statements on on the road where the accident occured and one in the Nicosia office. I did not think that I had cause the accident as I was going uphill in second gear and the on going ute took the corner too wide and too fast and his brakes failed as his ute skidded on the dirt road. I was diverted on to the road by a priest of a nearby church where the asphalted road was closed off for a festival. I would appreciate a report on the accident so that I may put the matter to bed. Imagine on Sunday, middle of nowhere, don't know anybody, no one to help us. Waited half an hour and asked one of the stranger to help us to call the number on the window. He called and sixt staff was at home and said coming in half an hour. This is unacceptable. Whan I booked the car through the internet, info given was office open on sundays until 12.00 and that was wrong, misguide and unacceptable. I have been renting through sixt for the last 4-5 years many times and this is the only time I was dissappointed from the service, unusual practise and mislead.Thnx "

" hello. i would like to tell about my experience with your israeli branch . my original booking was on 22/07/16 at 16:21. .the booking was for 23/07/16. i was given a voucher and waited for confirmation . after few hours i tried to call them by phone and by internet , but they don't have a representative working until sunday. called auto europe international and gave them my reservation number..but they didnt have my details on their listings. eventually, i had to cancel my reservation in israeli branch and make a new one in auto europe international. it was much higher price . 234.98 euro instead of 188.45 EURO in isael branch. when talked to them on sunday the representative in israel hung up on me! thank you hanangelman "

I had to deposit 650 and when I returned the car, they informed me that they will do the car inspection later ( which means - when I'm gone). I'm sure that I returned the car in the same condition as I had picked it up, but the system of cyprusaptcar is set up in a way that it is impossible for me to participate in the inspection of the car after I return it. This enables them to "find" any scratches on the car they want and hence to withdraw it from my deposit without me knowing it. They haven't released my deposit yet, but if I receive it any less than 650, I will have no other choice but to react accordingly. "
