Split Airport serves as the second most significant air transport hub in Croatia, following the capital city of Zagreb. It commenced operations for air traffic on 25 November 1966 and has played a crucial role in fostering the development of the tourist region in central Croatia. Terminals

The only terminal at Split Airport was reactivated in 2019, featuring upgraded facilities and an extensive array of new equipment to ensure complete passenger satisfaction. Following a phase of construction and expansion, the terminal now boasts an additional 34,500 square metres of space, increasing the total area to 46,000 square metres, thereby enabling the airport to serve up to 40,000 passengers daily. Currently, the terminal is equipped with 32 monitored check-in counters and 10 automated check-in kiosks, along with a fully automated baggage sorting system. Furthermore, passengers utilizing Split Airport will be pleased to learn that the enhancements also encompass the inauguration of a new bus terminal, which includes parking for up to 50 buses and an extra 900 parking spaces for vehicles.

How to get to and from Split Airport

The Split Airport is excellently connected to the local public transport of the city, both by sea and land. Bus lines 37 and 38 serve the airport every 20 minutes during the day, with a travel time of approximately 40 minutes. Additionally, an efficient shuttle service operated by the local transport company Plesoprijevoz connects the airport to the city center of Split, accommodating most incoming and outgoing flights. Taxis are readily available just outside the arrivals hall exit of the terminal, providing passengers with a 30-minute transfer to the city. The airport is also linked to the suburban railway network via the Promet bus line, which runs eight times a day between the nearest station (Kaštel Stari) and the airport. During the high season, there is no better way to reach the city than by boat, and Split Express offers a high-speed ferry service from the port, located 500 meters on foot from the Split Airport terminal.

Parking Tips

Car rental at Split Airport has one big advantage: as soon as you arrive by plane, and after having picked up your vehicle, you can hit the road to vacation without delay! At the same time as the opening of the new terminal, a new 900-seat multi-storey car park was inaugurated opposite the arrival hall building. It is accessible by a pedestrian walkway. When parking your low cost car hire at Split Airport in the city, keep in mind that the historic center (which houses many of the city's main attractions) is largely a pedestrian zone with limited access for vehicles other than public transport. However, there is a good selection of parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the downtown area, such as at the eastern end of Riva, on Vukovarska Street (just outside the city walls) and opposite Strossmayer Park, which offers over 320 parking spaces. Close to Vukovarska, there are two additional parking lots on Svaciceva and Zrinsko-Frankopanska, while a more affordable option is located a bit further down Plinarska Street.
