Rome, the Italian capital, is one of the cities in the world that attracts the most tourists. Its historical and cultural symbolism, together with its many artistic movements over the centuries, are key factors for its popularity, along with an enviable climate that makes the Eternal City the perfect place for a trip at any time of the year. To avoid subjecting yourself to long queues at the city's main sights, such as the Colosseum and the Sistine Chapel, it's best to thoroughly plan your trip well ahead so that you don't miss out on the city's many Roman wonders, not to mention the masterpieces by the likes of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Botticelli. When you book your car rental at Rome Ciampino Airport you'll be able to take the opportunity to explore the city as soon as you leave the terminal. It's a great place to collect your vehicle before visiting some of the most iconic sites such as the historic city centre (now a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the famous Dolls' Hospital (Ospedale delle Bambole) and the Vatican, as well as the many attractions in the surrounding area. You can start your journey at Fiumicino Airport before heading for Naples, Lazio, Florence and the glorious Sabina region, with the added possibility of visiting Capri and Pompeii on your travels.

Ciampino Airport has two terminals, one for low-cost domestic and international flights and the other mostly for air taxis and private flights. Despite the existence of this second terminal, the airport is considered to be a single-terminal airport, as only one of them is used by regular travellers. Despite its small size, the main terminal building is very modern and well-designed with the Arrivals Hall on the left and the Departures Hall and respective check-in desks on the right. The terminal has a total of 16 boarding-gates and more than 30 check-in desks in total.
Despite being smaller and less busy than Rome's Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO), Ciampino offers passengers a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars to relax in before departing. For last-minute shopping, don't forget to pay a visit to the airport's many stores, which range from well-known brands to cheaper shops and Duty-free areas. For the convenience of travellers passing through, the airport has Wi-fi available throughout its premises at no cost. As in any most other airports, you'll also find banks, plenty of ATMs, bureaux de change and a tourist information office operated by the Municipality of Rome where you can ask questions about accommodation and buy various types of tickets for transportation and visitor attractions. The airport also has services related to protecting your luggage, including the chance to wrap suitcases in plastic, as well as lost and found areas. If you're traveling with children, there's a family area with appropriate facilities for keeping the kids amused before their flight, plus areas for changing nappies, heating up children's food and play areas with toys, etc. If you have any health problems, rest assured that the airport there has a dedicated medical centre in the terminal to offer assistance whenever needed.
Travelling to and from the city centre is a quick process and travellers rarely have a problem picking up or dropping off their car rental at Rome Ciampino Airport. The mst popular route is to take the SS7, the Via Appia Nuova road or take the A24 and A90/E80 (Grande Raccordo Anulare) before leaving the road at Exit 23. Just like Rome Fiumicino Airport, you can take public transport directly to the centre of Rome or to other points of interest in the city. Rome Ciampino Airport can be reached with a number of buses (all the buses stop opposite the international departures area) with services operating every day of the week (Monday to Sunday). Tickets can be purchased online, at authorised agents located in the Arrivals Hall or on-board the bus itself. Additionally, passengers can take advantage of the Trenitalia Ciampino Airlink, a combined train and bus service that connects the centre of Rome with Ciampino Airport. Located a few metres from the entrance of the airport, the bus leaves every 20 minutes from the square opposite the terminal.
Convenient, safe and near the main terminal building, you can park your car rental at Rome Ciampino Airport in P3 which has about 110 outdoor parking spaces just 200 meters from the terminal, which is highly recommended for stays of up to one hour with the first 15 minutes free of charge. The four car parks P4, P5, P6 and P7 have about 500 outdoor car parking spaces located opposite the Departures/Arrivals Halls. Parking on the streets of Italy's capital tends to be much more complicated as there are a lot of tourists and locals with cars and spaces are usually always full meaning that it can be difficult to find an empty parking space quickly. Even so, bear in mind that you should always park in the blue zones and pay at the nearest parking meter. If you do find a parking space quickly, don't exceed the suggested time as you're certain to be fined or have your vehicle towed away. If your hotel happens to be in a Limited Traffic Zone, don't forget to ask at reception for a permit to drive and park in these areas. For those looking for cheaper parking, you can always park your rental car on the outskirts of the city and travel to the centre by public transport.
