Located approximately 90 kilometres north-west of the French capital, Paris Beauvais Airport is the smallest of the city's three international air transportation hubs but no less important in terms of tourist traffic. A popular gateway for a number of low-cost carriers, most notably Ryanair and Wizz Air, Aéroport de Beauvais-Tillé (as it is known locally) handled around five million passenger movements last year, many of them during the peak summer and festive seasons.
The town of Beauvais itself has a lot to offer visitors due to its long history, along with its abundance of Gothic churches, fascinating museums and several old buildings dating from the 12th to the 16th centuries. Its star attractions is without doubt St Peter's Cathedral, the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Beauvais, which was founded in the 13th century and is impressive for its Gothic choir, the highest in the world.
Thanks to the town's close proximity to Paris, a road-trip in and around the French capital is an excellent way of discovering one of the most beautiful regions of France at any time of the year. Other options for travellers who choose to book their car rental at Paris Beauvais Airport include a tour of the country’s famous champagne region around Reims or a family visit to Disneyland Paris, one of the world's most popular theme parks.

Also known as Beauvais-Tillé Airport, BVA has two large, modern passenger terminals and caters mostly for low-cost airlines and the occasional charter flight, particularly in the summer months. First built in the 1930s, Paris Beauvais Airport has grown in line with the constant development of the French capital as a major international tourist destination, with the purpose of taking some of the pressure off the city's other two air transportation hubs, namely Paris CDG Airport and Paris Orly Airport.

Located side by side, Paris Beauvais Airport's two modern passenger terminals have a wide range of on-site services and amenities, including restaurants, snack-bars and shops, both airside and in the main public areas. Both closed during night, Terminals 1 and 2 currently cater for an increasing number of low-cost flights, with more arrivals and departures registered during the summer months of June, July and October, the height of the tourist season.
Inside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 there's an abundance of restaurants, bars, cafés and fashion boutiques on both either side (air and land). Passengers passing through the airport have up to 30 minutes of free Wi-fi Internet available, after which they log back in as many times as they wish. There are several ATMs spread across the terminal buildings, as well as a whole host of on-site facilities and amenities, including baby-care facilities, large Duty-free shops and bureaux de change. Terminal 1 also has a tourist information desk and a post office.
It is very easy to reach Beauvais city centre along the D1001, with a journey time of around 10 minutes outside the rush-hour. Travellers heading directly for the French capital after having picked up their car rental at Paris Beauvais Airport can take the A1 motorway towards Lille and then the A16, which takes approximately 1 hour depending on the traffic. Getting to Paris and Beauvais using the local public transport system is also very easy on the shuttle-bus that departs from the bus station outside the main terminal building, connecting the Aéroport de Beauvais-Tillé with Paris-Porte Maillot. Other options include the number 6 city bus service from Paris Beauvais Airport to the Old Town of Beauvais where it's possible to catch the train from Beauvais Gare operated by SNCF (the train goes directly to Paris Gare du Nord with a journey time of about 75 minutes).
With capacity for around 4,000 cars, there are plenty of parking options at Paris Beauvais Airport. The two main car parks (1 and 2) are located within easy walking distance of the main airport terminal, which makes them ideal for short stays and drop-offs. On the other hand, car park number 4 is dedicated to long-term parking and with an equally convenient location of about 10 minutes on foot. It's perfectly possible to find a parking space in the centre of Beauvais because the town has a number of large public car parks, with the most central being the Vinci car park situated at Place Georges Clemenceau. You will also find several excellent car parks near the town's main shopping centres, along with some free car parks dotted around the boulevard belt, most notably the Theatre car park, Gendarmerie car park, Boulevard Aristide Briand car park and Saint-Quentin car park. It's also possible to pay for on-street parking using the Paris Carte available for purchase at newsagents (please note that the local parking meters in Beauvais don't accept cash). There are also underground car parks in Paris where you can pre-book a parking space.
