Nice Central Train Station was opened in 1862 but has since been renovated into the modern train station you see today. The Marseille-Ventimiglia railway line runs through this train station, which provides excellent links to other French cities, and international links. This train station has excellent rail connections and is located perfectly in Nice for an easy onward journey. Numerous trains run daily from Nice across the region, nationally and internationally. Along with SNCF trains, TGV high-speed trains are present. These provide fast links to Paris, Lyon, Montpellier, Toulouse and even Milan in Italy. Inside its main terminal, visitors can benefit from many services. Luggage lockers, a lost & found office, information desk, travel assistance desk for those with mobility issues, ATM machines, ticket office, currency exchange, various restrooms and plenty of shops.
Food wise, visitors have access to Carrefour Express, various vending machines, a bar, coffee houses, eateries and numerous restaurants both inside the terminal and adjacent to the train station. TER Sud provides tickets for those looking to travel locally and explore not only Nice but its suburbs. From Nice Train Station an express bus service also connects passengers easily to the Nice International Airport. Line 2 metro is only 3.2 kms away and provides a fast service around Nice. Parking in Nice like in all major cities has its challenges - although not impossible. By renting a car at Nice Train Station, you’re not too far from the heart of the city, with numerous accommodation options. On-street parking is permitted in Nice, but some areas are reserved for residents or are provided on a pay for basis - especially near the beach and old town. Many neighbourhoods only allow parking on one side of the road. Nice Central Train Station has an underground car park with over 600 parking spaces. It is open 24-hours per day and has easy access to the station.
The process of parking on only one side of the street is complex. From the 1st - 15th of each month, the side of the street you may park on changes. During this period, you can only park on the street with odd numbers. On the 16th of each month, this changes, and you can only park on the street with even numbers. City car parks allow you to park for up to one hour for free. When parking on the street, make sure you adhere to any parking signs and restrictions. A solid yellow curb line means that no stopping is permitted. Dotted yellow lines means that parking is allowed.
