Naples-Capodichino International Airport is the main air transportation hub for the city of Naples and the surrounding region of Campania. The fourth-busiest airport in Italy (after Leonardo da Vinci in Rome and Malpensa and Orio al Serio in Milan), it handles over ten million passenger movements every year with a mixture of tourists and business travellers.
Owned and managed by GE.SACSpA (Gestione Servizi Aeroporti Campani), it is conveniently located just 5.9 kilometres (3.7 miles) north-east of the city centre and serves as a base for a number of major airlines, including easyJet, Ryanair, Volotea and Wizzair. Covering a total of 233 hectares (576 acres), the airport is officially named Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino Ugo Niutta in honour of the decorated World War I Ugo Niutta.
Exuberant, vibrant and quintessentially Italian, Naples is a city of fascinating museums, lavish palaces and historic churches dotted along its princely promenades and narrow colbblestone streets. A popular starting point for many first time visitors is the 12th-century Castel Ovo prominently situated on the waterfront, after which an afternoon spent at the National Archeological Museum is considered an absolute must.
With a car rental at Naples Airport you can soak up the city's many attractions before embarking on an exciting excursion to nearby Pompeii which was engulfed by lava from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Situated just 15 kilometres south-east of Naples, the volcano itself is well worth visiting not only for all its natural beauty but also for the unparalleled views of the Campania coastline at the top.

Naples Airport has a single, modern all-purpose terminal building designed with passengers in mind, with air-side sections A, B and C handling all domestic and international flights. The large land-side ground-level area features the check-in and arrivals zones, while the upper-level features the main departures area A and the majority of the airport's shops. The air-side ground-level contains sections B and C, with the latter being used for non-Schengen departures. As the airport does not yet feature any jet-bridges, passengers are transported by buses with walk boarding available in a few instances. Several areas of the terminal have been refurbished and expanded in recent years, with more improvement projects planned in the coming years.
