Terminals

Milan-Malpensa Airport is the largest airport in northern Italy and the second busiest in the country. The airport consists of two main terminals – Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. A shuttle bus links both terminals and operated 24-hours per day. Although the service runs every 7-minutes, from 11pm until 5am, the service is reduced to every 30-minutes. We therefore advise leaving enough time should you need to transfer between terminals. The journey time itself is around 10-minutes as the terminals are a couple of kms apart. In addition to the shuttle service, a train service links both the terminals. Both the shuttle and train services are located on the lower floors of the terminals.

Terminal 1 is the older terminal of the two, and is divided into three main sections - 1A, 1B and 1C. 1A handles flights from the Schengen area and domestic national routes, whilst 1B and 1C handle all other flights. For those arriving from countries that require a passport to ender Italy, arrivals B is utilised. Otherwise, those that do not need ID to enter Italy will use arrivals A. Luggage reclaim belts are located on the ground floor just past immigration, whilst the check-in desks of various airlines are located on the second floor. Terminal 2 is a smaller terminal and mainly hosts EasyJet flights. Here the luggage reclaim belts and the check-in desks are located on the ground floor. There are thirty-six gates, ten passport check counters and six ticketing desks.

Airport Facilities

Milan-Malpensa Airport is well serviced in terms of restoration. With around seventy-four different food outlets covering a total area of just over 7,250 sqm, visitors will have plenty to entertain themselves with. Terminal 1 contains restaurants over each floor, with shopping outlets on the first and second floors. ATM cash machines are located across all floors, whilst a police office can be found on the ground floor.

Terminal 2 however, has a police office, currency exchange office and ATM cash machines located only on the ground floor. Restaurants and shops can be found both on the ground floor and first floor. How to get to and from Milan-Malpensa Airport

Milan-Malpensa Airport has excellent connections. The A8 and A4 motorways provide links to Milan and Turin respectively. You can expect to take around 40-minutes from the airport to Milan and around 1h30 minutes to Turin. Milan operates a congestion charge zone which covers the city centre and the old town. A coach service operates from both terminals at the airport. Coaches operate every 20 minutes and have links across the region. STIE, Autostradale and Air Pullman runs these services and tickets can be purchased onboard. Bus stops are located on the ground floor of both terminals. Another alternative to opting to rent a car at Milan-Malpensa Airport are taxis. Taxi ranks are located outside both terminals. There are currently five car parks at Milan-Malpensa Airport. Car park 1 is within walking distance from Terminal 2. This is a long-term car park containing 1,200 parking spots.
