    Station information

Opened in 1931, Milan Central Train Station is one of the busiest train stations in Europe. It welcomes around 320 thousand passengers daily, an average of 120 million annually. This equates to over 800 trains passing through daily. The train station itself consists of 24 tracks with routes across all of Italy and to many European cities, such as Livorno. This new train station was built due to the original train station that was built in 1864 not being able to handle the quantity of passengers. This was especially apparent once the Simplon Tunnel was finished in 1906.
