" Quite easy and smooth experience. "
" Checking out and checking in the car was quite smooth and easy. The car has a few dent and scratch upon hiring. But after you drive around in Iceland and seeing the road and parking lot conditions, it's understandable why that could happen so I don't have much to complain. "

" I miss the liability waiver in your insurance, which you had earlier as standard "
" The person on the encounter spoke very poorly English, made it really hard to understand what he was saying and I had to ask him over and over again what he said. He also got quite irritated/unpleasant when I said I didn't want their extra insurance, almost agitated in the tone, came with loads of warnings and did not felt like a good customer service behaviour. It is also not a good procedure that I, as a rental taker, should stand outside in stormy weather, to double check the car with a thin paper for measurement that gets wet and destroyed in the weather. " I needed a bigger car than what I had booked through autoeurope. The person at the Budget counter charged a large additional amount for the upgrade. So I ended up paying nearly twice the original amount that I had paid through autoeurope. "

" Budget did, for my troubles, not charge me for the GPS unit. The customer service was fine, the vehicle maintenance not that great. "
" I picked up my car at Budget, but 1 hour later I discover the electric window won't roll back up. I had to return the car, wait another hour for a new car. It performed fine, but the windshield wiper on the driver's side was completely worn out. They need to do a much better job of inspecting their vehicles before delivering them to customers. "

" I am willing to use Auto Europe but first time I encountered an issue with rental company. I hope Auto Europe is able to interfere that. "
" I paid full amount of my rental car to you. Budget tried to sell me additional insurance and I refused it because I purchased Super Cover from you. When I brought car back, I noticed that they chared me 2431 ISK from my credit card. When I contacted Budget, they said this was taken as "Road Assistance". Nobody informed me regarding this charge. They just put something like that implicitely into the form. I rent car from Budget at least 10 different countries, and this happens first time. This is also discouraging to use your service because they are creating ambiguity. I'd be glad if you have a chance to interfere. I am also in contact with them but they refuse to pay back. "

" Website easy to use. Car provided was poor. "
" Car had no coolant. Inconvenienced by visit to garage to rectify and continued concern as a result of engine warning light constantly illuminated. Vehicle had 120k mileage and was a wreck! Could not read mileage due to "service required" messaging on dashboard. No apology, no compensation. Also tried to charge me for insurance cover already paid for at booking. "

" we were told by Budget that the full cover we had from Auto Europe would cover us, but that we would have to pay them and then submit to Auto Europe to get our money back. That is not efficient and i suggest that you try to make this easier. Thank God we did not have to do this. "
" The keys of the car were given to us and we were told to go find the car in the outside car park by ourselves without being given a parking space location, only a general area...! This is not pleasant in Reykjavik in the cold! Due to this there was no one to show us how things worked on the car and we had to learn on the go! Furthermore since no one came with us i had to sign that everything was OK with the car at the airport desk and if I then found something different I was told that I would need to photograph it and send it to Budget. Apparently that is OK but it worries me that i would have no proof that this did not happen in my custody... The same also happened at handover when the car was checked and it was OK, but the person checking did not give me anything to show this, but sent it by e-mail later... If something had happened in the meantime, what proof would i have that this had not happened while the car was with us? I think that the above must depend on peoples' goodwill and that should not be taken for granted!! "

" Please see above complaint and provide your response. "
" I was extremely disappointed with your service at Keflavik Airport. 1. I was attended to by a young Budget female trainee who did not understand the contract terms and took over 40 minutes to answer my questions. Her English was not good enough to explain the insurance deals available. I do not think she even understood them and kept asking for assistance from her colleague. 3. She then insisted I sign the damage report before I had even had a chance to find the vehicle and assess its condition. and before I was given the keys! She did not give me any details on where to return the vehicle at the airport so I assumed I was to return the keys to the same desk I hired the car which I note was not sign posted Auto Europe but Budget. 2. Your online advertisement made it clear your rental car desk was in the airport. I was astounded to find on returning the car in a very heavy snow storm that I had to drive to the other side of the airport to park the car a long way (500 meters) from the pick up area. There were no marked bays for Auto Europe nor Budget for that matter in this area. I was told by the gate operator to park the car in this area because the gate where I collected the car would not open. I specifically used your car rental company to avoid this situation! I had two small children in the car and four heavy suitcases. It was snowing heavily and there was no pathway between the so called car delivery point and the airport itself. For safety reasons I had to leave my children and bags alone at the airport and park the car half a kilometre away from them despite the fact there were no visible signs indicating where your cars were to be parked! I note it was a snow storm but there were no marked bays at all and no sign posted key return area. On trudging through 500ms of knee deep snow from the car delivery point back to the airport I finally reached the Budget rental desk inside the airport where I tried to explain my difficulties to the Budget staff on returning the vehicle and that there was no signed area to return keys to Budget near the car delivery point. I then handed the keys to the Budget supervisor - an African Anglo/American man approximately 35-40 years of age who was extremely rude and argued with me and told me I would be charged if I left the keys with them and that had to walk back (500m) to the rental car drop off area (500m) away! I said I could not walk back out into a howling - 7 C degree snow storm, particularly since I would have to leave my children alone at the airport to do so and in addition had never been told to go to that so called delivery area when I initially rented the car. I was astounded that this man argued with me and said it was my responsibility to return the keys to the other side of the airport. He didn't even explain to me how to get there! I asked for his name and he refused to give it to me. He did not wear a name badge. He was astoundingly arrogant and argumentative. I have never come across this attitude from a rental car company employee before. He was not interested in what I had to say nor did he listen to my complaints about the vehicle. All he could say was that your going to get charged if you leave the keys here (at the Budget desk)! In addition to this: 4. The vehicle was at least 8 years old and had over 85,000 km's on the clock. This is a potential safety hazard particularly in harsh weather conditions. I have been renting cars for over 20 years and have never come across a car this old with this much on the clock before. 5. The radio did not work and kept changing channels 6. The heater was not sufficient for the Icelandic winter and took 10 minutes to heat the car. Difficult in -5C. 7. The front passenger seat was broken and could not be adjusted. 8. The petrol tank was not full when we entered the vehicle and dropped at least 25% by the time we made it into Reykjavik from Keflavik airport and had clearly been tampered with. It is only a 45 minute drive and I have done it many times and never encountered this before. 9. This is a front wheel drive car and is extremely dangerous in winter conditions. I suggest in future you specifically warn your customers of the danger of driving in the winter months with front wheel drive cars. We nearly skidded off the road driving back to the airport on returning the car in a snow storm due to the poor quality of the tires. I even suspect now whether they were winter tires at all. I note it is illegal to rent cars without winter tires at this time of year. We strongly recommend you take this car off your winter market for the sake of safety. I have now checked my bank account and found your company has taken ISK 25,074 from my account on 6 December (the date I returned the vehicle). I find this astounding. What does this amount represent?? I have very good contacts who write regularly for Trip Adviser. I intend to make a complaint and publish this report online within the next few days. I expect a full refund for the total amount spent on this vehicle and compensation for the rude and arrogant attitude of your staff. I am a solicitor in Sydney Australia, currently based in the UK. I will proceed with legal action if necessary. Please advise immediately what action you will take to rectify this shocking experience with Auto Europe. I may withhold action on a full refund. You can email me at stina.crosbie12@gmail.com. Please copy my partner who is also a solicitor philip.breen@emblemlawyers.com.au. Yours sincerely, Kristin Crosbie "

" It was a very straight forward rental process. I would have liked more information about insurance ahead of picking up the car (not just the small print) as we did pay extra insurance from Budget that on reading the small print I think we didn't need. "

" Initial booking ok. Told we had full insurance with excess cover at booking but then told we did not have this when collecting car at airport. Additional fees excessive however Iceland has a very poor reputation when it comes to rental cars generally. "
" Lot of additional charges. Poorly informed service on collection. Were told we could pay with debit card at drop off which turned out not to be true and insisted on payment with credit card block. Drop off very congested with very small shuttle to airport. Had to wait for 3 loads before going to airport. "

" It would have been nice if I had a new car with no dents and scratches. Otherwise the vehicle was good and the service both at check in and at return was very good "
" The vehicle was covered in dents and scratches and because of the reviews I read on line regarding the drama people have to endure when returning the car for another bump / scratch that may not have been previously reported was something I wanted to avoid. So I had to pay for full cover insurance with no excess which cost much more than the rental of the car itself. "
