" The state of the Skoda Octavia was at best described as "an afterthought." I've used Budget for years and this is probably their worst car available. The car aside, the rest of the service, location, etc. is smooth and easy to use. But the car probably shouldn't still be in service. Stains on the seats, multiple warning lights coming (traction control, ABS and tire pressure) that were likely computer errors, but were equally unsettling just a couple of hundred kilometers into our four day trip. Fortunately, they went away after letting the car sit for a day. On returning, the issue was relayed to the staff, but it appears that those handling the hand off are likely to ignore the issue because it might take too much money to fix. I would also like to note the surcharge for taking the car out of the Czech Republic, which is provided in Euros (even though you are in Prague) then has a flat exchange fee applied that makes the actual price nowhere near the initial fee. This is mostly an annoyance more than anything -- especially for expats using no foreign exchange fee credit cards. The difference isn't a couple of dollars, but instead $10-15. "

However, here is my review for Budget: TRAAAASSSHHHHHH! My train into Prague Station was late by two hours. I knew this early on and called the number Auto Europe gave me and the number that the Budget office had on the internet. No answer for both of those numbers, so I decided I would deal with being late once I arrived at Prague station. Little did I know this was just the beginning. Once I arrived at 1600 (Budget closes at 2000), I found the Budget office. It was closed. Doors locked. Lights off. No one answering the phone. I asked shop owners close by who also said it was closed. I looked on the internet again and saw that they said their location was at the Intercontinental Hotel downtown. I took an uber to the hotel, and was in for another surprise. The Intercontinental Hotel was closed for construction and there was an 8-foot gate surrounding the hotel and there was no way to get in. I then went back to the train station, while on the phone with Auto Europe, to figure out what is going on. Once I got back to the train station (at 1800), I walked to the return area to find that again, no one was there. Auto Europe then let me know that they could not get in touch with anyone from Budget at the train station or the airport. At 1900 I decided that Sixt was still open and that I should get in line and rent a car from them. Auto Europe would cover the second two days and I would pay for the first. The Sixt worker overheard my conversation with Auto Europe and asked which numbers I had been calling. I showed both of the numbers and she then provided me with a cell phone number I should try. I called and someone answered. This is where it gets good. I asked the person on the other end if they were from Budget and they responded yes. I then asked where they were and where have they been, and he told me he was in the Budget train station office and I had been there the whole time. Now, I was not the only person in Sixt because I could not find anyone from Budget. There were 7 of us in there at one point to rent a car because we could not get in contact with anyone from Budget. Once I walked down to where te office was, I was in for yet another surprise. The doors were wide open, lights were on, the pull-down gate was now up, and of course, someone was sitting at the front desk. Long story short, I asked what happened and the guy told me he had been there the whole time and that the Budget office was never closed and said I was lying. He asked why I didn't call the phone number on the outside of the glass door, which was indeed there. However it was in approx. size 20 font and in light grey lettering, so not exactly the most obvious number. In the end I rented a car, but wow, what an experience. No apology. No professionalism. Definitely no effort by Budget to make up for my lost afternoon. Avoid this place. There are at least four phone numbers posted in different places. It is your fault if you don't figure out the correct one. "

" Horrible experience renting the car. The car had 'so-called' winter tires. On our way to a nearby mountain at Cerny Dul , the car started to slip on the way up. Ours was the only car to slip. All other cars clearly had better quality tires AND NO CHAINS! It was a harrowing and forgettable experience. We were worried for our safety. In preparation to come back down, we had to buy chains and put them on. We want to be compensated for: 1) Cost of the chains = 50 euros 2) A taxi ride that we HAD to take to get into town since we could not take our car back down the hill = 25 euros 3) The scare and turmoil of going up and and the time wasted to arrange the chains = 100 euros 4) Refund for the winter tires that were included in the original rental cost = 30 euros (as per Budget) We hope that you will take this request seriously, else you will lose us as and many other potential customers that we would have referred otherwise. I picked up my car more than 1 hour after scheduled time by coordinator's fault. Drop off was even more troublesome. Even though I asked beforehand (called them in the evening of the day before drop off date, as well as 3 hours before the drop off time) to organize timely drop off in Karlovy Vary airport it was not done. The driver has not arrived even 2 hrs after the scheduled time, I had to find the director of the airport and ask him to handover the keys to the driver. Earlier budget's coordinator suggested that I leave the keys at the airport information desk but there was no one there. They don't have locker or box at Karlovy Vary airport, they are not able to organize a reliable way of keys handover, they couldn't organize the driver to come on time. "

" As a loyal customer of Autoeurope, I was rather disappointed this time by the treatment of my rental by Budget. "
" I have rented a VW Golf and I got a Seat Leon (cheaper car but maybe at the same class). I wouldn't mind a lot about that, if the car wasn't rather tired with 67,975 Km at delivery, knackered all around and with minimal equipment (e.g. no cruise control that was very important for me, having traveled almost 1600 Km in a week). To be honest that was the worst car I have ever rented via Autoeurope. On the other hand, in the parking of Budget there were Golfs available, with better equipment and newer. Maybe they were only available to direct Budget customers (not via Autoeurope). There was also no availability for diesel that I wanted, although I understand that it wasn't on the terms of the contract. The final complaint is that they still hold a charge of 782.53 Euros in my credit card, although the car was returned intact, inspected and found with absolutely no damage. "

" First of all we had booked the car pick up at 10.00., but when coming to the pick up office, we found out that there were only two customer servicers at the desk and all customers (those who started the renting process and those who had only the pick up to perform). It took us almost 1,5 hours queue to get to the counter. The actual procedure was fast (thanks to autoeurope voucher), the person who serviced us was okay and performed a change to our original voucher with ease. Everything was ok we got the keys and headed for the garage to pick up our vehicle. On the way to the garage we noted that there could be more signs to guide customers to get to the actual pick up site, it was located furthest corner of the garage. The pick up place was filthy and off-putting. There were two workers taking care of the delivering the cars. The younger male served us and was very polite and seemingly customer oriented. We asked for the vehicle, and he started to look for it. Couldn't find it and asked his colleague about it and came to us and said that our car wasn't ready, he said that it is in cleaning and a car wash, but should be here shortly. Other customers came and claimed their vehicles, but our vehicle wasn't yet delivered. Then the other person went to get it from the other end of the garage (some kind of workshop or place to tidy the cars). He drove the car from there, but parked it away from the other delivery cars, behind some other cars and in a shadier place. Other delivered cars were shiny and clean (in the condition, as they in my experience always are, when rented). We got the keys and the papers, but were only instructed to pick the car up behind the other cars. We went to car and immediately noticed that it was dirty both inside and out. So it was obvious that it wasn' t been in cleaning or a car wash. I walked to the worker and asked him to come and see the car (he seemed that he already knew that it was dirty). He offered express hoover the inside of the car and wipe the windows clean from the outside. At the same time he said that it is not possible to wash the car or thoroughly clean it from the inside. We also asked him to check the car, because it was impossible to detect if there were some defects hidden under the dirt. The cleaning was totally insufficient and so we had leave with a dirty vehicle and really disappointed of the service and the quality of the cleanliness of the car. I have to add that the younger worker was sorry about the situation but the older person was very indifferent and unfriendly and customer disoriented. For my work I have rented (must be hundreds) a lot of different cars from different vendors and never ever experienced anything like this. The one thing that every professional renting office have to manage is to deliver a clean, new and functional car. The most incredible thing is that it was not surely a surprise that we are coming to pick up the car, which we had already booked in advance, and in addition they should have had the car totally ready for pick up at 10.00. In the end I have to say that the service is the only thing that separates the good from bad and bad from good. "

" It's not the first time that the car-return office/desk at Prague's main railway station is closed & unattended before its official opening hours (supposed to be attended until 9 PM but was unattended at my arrival at 8:30 PM). From 8:30 PM to 9 PM I tried to get a hold of someone by knocking on the office door and calling 3(!) different phone numbers that are stated on the door, in the car registration booklet and the contract - all to no avail. The pick-up office was closed as well. I had to come back the following day to return the car. I went to the office first where the clerk insists that the return office was attended the night before, despite my clear statement that that was not the case. Luckily I am based in Prague, so having to come back to return the car a day later is not a major issue, however it can be for anyone who has to leave Prague after dropping off the car without delay. It was found during drop-off and they've billed 5'000 CZK (almost 200 EUR) for it! Also they are not 24/7 in the Prague airport. Next time we'll try Enterprise, which is 24/7. "

" Very Friendly staff at airport desk speak which can speak English well. Car was a Skoda 1.0 which was under powered to be used on motor ways. The 5th gear was defective so driving was not very smooth. Otherwise had no other issues. Perhaps a good service will solve the problem. "

" Car had some damage when picked up. We had difficulty finding the office for pick up. We knew it was in the train station, just not where. Even worse for the drop off. The location address was not able to be sourced with the GPS. We had to use cell data and google maps to figure out location and how to get there. Simple PDF of the exact address when booking would make things easier. "
